I run a Lee Classic Cast and a Hornady Lock-n-Load progressive. I use the Hornady for almost everything, including the majority of my rifle rounds. I only load my 600-yard rounds on the Lee, and that's because a) my hand priming tool gives me more consistent primer seating and b) I'm weighing individual charges. I'm not completely convinced I really need to do that, but it makes me feel good.

Dillon told me to go with the 550 if I want to do .338 Lupua. I am just wondering if I should get the 650 and worry about something for the .338 later. Suggestions????
I think I've seen a similar issue on my Hornady. The auto-index rotates the shellplate on the way up, so with a really long case the shellplate doesn't have a chance to fully index before a case mouth hits something because it's not lined up with the dies. The 550 doesn't have that problem because you rotate the shellplate by hand before you actuate the press.

I guess you need to decide if you really want the auto-index and the case feeder on the 650 for the other rounds you're loading. In my case, I load .308 and .260 on the Hornady and I do stuff like resize as a separate process... with the case feeder and auto-index, all I have to do is pull the handle and I blaze through an entire batch of cases in no time. With pistol rounds, it really cranks 'em out.

I am really starting to lean towards just getting the 650 and then later get a sinlge press for the .338. I have .223, .300 win mag, .308 right now so I would most likely be best with the 650. I have to go over and get a shotshell loader also. A buddy of mine passed away and his wife wanted the stuff gone so she asked me to get it. So I would have all that for shotshells, then the 650 for everything else and then get something later for the .338, I think I have a plan here . Now I just need to figure out how to reload .

For the 338, the 550 will be the best option since the 650 will not work for a 338. Ohhh welll....

              I use a lee loadmaster for everything. I load 30-30, .308, 45 colt.
Soon I'll do .223 and 40 SW too. I use a Lyman 55 powder measure for the rifle rounds.

My M1a loaded model (M14) shoots 1 MOA with Federal GMM 175's (.308). And It shoots 3/4 MOA or better with my handloads of LC Match brass, CCI 200 primers, 41.5 gr IMR 4895, and 175 gr or 168 gr Sierra Matchking.

So GMM can be beat with a progressive...

I probably wouldn't recommend the loadmaster as it's finicky....but it works ok for the money. Maybe someday I'll try a dillon.

I use the lyman kit, does a good job but will be upgrading to that RCBS auto matic thrower and measurer!

I'm another Hornady Lock N Load user. It's a great press, I wish I bought it fifteen years ago when I started. I recommend it with no reservations. It's super easy to change calibers, including primer size. If you buy it from Cabela's you get an $80 store credit!

Plus, from now through the end of next year, you get some free bullets from Hornady if you buy some of their reloading gear: http://www.hornady.com/get_loaded.php

That was the only press I used for years, Makes the best rifle ammo. Now I don`t use it much because it`s on the other side of the table?
Good luck finding one I don`t think they made them for years now.
