California "FFL 03 Friendly" Ammunition Dealers starting 1/1/18

I had an email exchange with Shooters Pro Shop (http://www.shootersproshop.com) over the past few days and they now say that they will ship to an 03FLL/COE holder in California. In response to my query they said:

"Yes ,we can ship to you, but you will need to provide us with copies of your FFL and COE for us to have on file before we can ship the order. We will also need to ship the order to the address on the FFL. Please let us know if you have any other questions."

Regarding whether they need documentation before an order is placed or if we send it afterward and reference the order number, they stated:

"Either way works for us. You can send it before or after you place your order. If you place the order without sending us the docs first, one of our team may reach out and ask, but that is the only difference."

When I subsequently asked them about the warning on their website that they don't ship ammo to California, they stated:

"You are still good to go. You can still order ammo in CA. That notice is probably a little dated."

So...I'll see if it works out.

Might want to put an asterisk on Classic Firearms. Just got off the phone with them and while, as a website, their policy is to ship to CA FFL03+COE holders, their individual warehouses can decide if they will honor that or not. I had 3 different kinds of ammo and all of them would be shipping from a "restricted" warehouse and so they couldn't sell it to me. It was some 338, 30-06, and 9mm, so nothing particularly special I would think. They didn't offer any insight in how to tell what's coming from a restricted place or not except to try and place your order on the phone and find out at the end of it.

Interesting, looks like they have relationship with multiple unaffiliated wholesalers.

I haven't placed an order with them, but Edelweiss Arms (edelweissarms.com) will ship ammo to CA 03FFL+CoE holders. From their website:

California

- Must be delivered to an FFL dealer or licensed ammunition vendor.
- Shipping exemption available for valid 03 FFL (Curio & Relic Collector) holders with a current CA DOJ Certificate of Exemption.
- Unable to ship to Los Angeles, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, Carson, Sunnyvale, and Berkeley.

AmmoFast.com will ship to any CA 03FFL+CoE holders. The Tax Rules are getting ready to change for everyone on eCommerce sales. Not just the state of CA. As of right now AmmoFast.com doesn't charge tax in CA and Ammo Cases quantities ship free.

I believe on all purchases regardless of status. Incoming shipments to California are now being assessed taxes. Oh joy.

Luckily for now, I am still in a 9.25% sales tax district. If I find a decent sale and no shipping, I am still ahead. This is not a paid endorsement: The Target Sports USA Prime Ammo makes more sense.
