No harm in tumbling, but lately my ladders are looking dirty as sin.

Just an FYI, for gas guns that use small rifle primers, it's good to use a thicker cup like CCI BR4, Rem 71/2 BR, CCI 41, or CCI 450s.

I personally use Rem 7 1/2 BR, CCI 450, and CCI BR4 (expensive), and Wolf/Tula SRM (these are very good but I haven't seen this in a while)

Check out the chart - http://www.accurateshooter.com/techn...sure-analysis/

I want clean brass , could care less how shiny , but I want clean that does not leave " stuff " in barrel and clean inside that does plug up flash hole or contaminate powder .
Now a days it is not as bad . I used to see people with a smoke in one hand and put it in mouth while putting a cartridge into bolt .
Finger prints burned into case - but I still picked them up .
There are people that will take a fired case , run it thru their reloading machine and never clean - most get a lot of fliers

I'm that guy with a smoke in one hand while loading/shooting with the other, I see nothing about that effecting my ammo or shooting ability, nor will it change my fingerprints on the brass, I don't understand that at all.

I've only done a little bit of testing between clean and dirty brass but found no significant difference. Precision shooting from a bench I assume there would be a measurable difference.

And then watch the Op decides reloading is not for him and now has to sell the stuff at a loss.

One time I went to a 1k match. Shot too many sighters so when the rounds counted, I ran out. Grabbed my Lee handpress, loaded up quickly 3 rounds quickly and took the shots. Made good hits and had the same spread as my laboratory loads that I gave much love to.

Moral of the story, it doesn't matter. A Lee or a Dillon, load it and shoot it. People just like to justify for the cost they dumped into a product...

Well man, I wish you would've given me that useful advice before I bought all this stuff!

Several people here know me personally; I buy the good stuff and keep it.

I'm stoked about reloading my own ammo (for precision); seeing as how I'm overly analytical about most things, reloading should suite me just fine!

Lol, it's all good. I saw you order the stuff already and I was late to the party...

Anyway, it's a fun hobby. Just know that you WILL spend more than you shoot. Haha. People always say reloading saves but all my years of shooting and reloading.... not true! Back when primers were 79c/100, powder were 12 bucks/lbs and projectiles 5.99/100...it was. Not in today's market. It's more of a hobby than for shooting itself..unless you do competition...either way, have fun doing it!

The last batch of 45 ACP that I loaded cost me around $0.14/round. I don't know about you but I cannot find 50 round boxes of 45 ACP for $7 anywhere.

Go read Glen D. Zediker's book. You've gotten some good advice on this thread but you aren't filtering it yet.

Also read this thread in its entirety. Then re-read the reloading section a few times.

Yea , reloading only saves you money if you only shoot what you would have bought at range .
That kind of worked when I was just sighting in the rifle and building a little mussel memory for the 50 pistol .
                          I don't hunt anymore and I don't eat the paper targets .

The spinner came yesterday - I was not home . One nephew was BBQing , another and niece were reloading / tumbling /vibrating brass .
Anyway - the spinner works great for the pistol cases , but they said they still had to check the 308s = pins inside a few .
I dropped off wife at baby shower and went to bass pro , then hunting fishing - both a waste of time .

You know very well that this is outside of the norm. You have to be using bulk pulldown powder, range pickup brass, cast bullets from basically free lead and the cheapest primers out there (wolf is no longer being imported) to get anywhere close to your number.
