I'm my head, my pistol was for sure going to explode and terribly maim but not kill me and I would never be able to shoot again. But alas I had done everything as intended and my rounds flew true....many a paper target was murdered in cold blood on that day.
I shot my first rifle handload out of a Mini-14, and I used a Ruger P89 for my first pistol load. I wanted to use guns built like tanks to help withstand what I thought could very well be mayhem-inducing explosions. I double-checked my eye protection, and although I kept my eyes open, I have to admit I found myself squinting pretty dramatically as I slowly pulled the trigger. But I'm happy to report that everything went flawlessly both times. Needless to say, I was hooked. OP, the worm is definitely about to turn for you. Good luck, and enjoy the experience!

        Long by my standards, but......

I never load 45 ACP beyond 1.25", but more commonly 1.230". On cast bullets with a slight step I like the step just about 0.020" beyond the case mouth.

        12345 is a good tool.

It is illegal to load ANYTHING other than 5.0 grains of Bullseye into a 230 grain .45 Automatic Colt Pistol Cartridge having the diameter of .451 for the projectile. This is the Military Full Metal Jacket Load that was fired out of Jim Browning's design of the Model of the 1911 Colt Automatic Pistol Handgun that was issued to the Men of the United States Army back in 1924 to be used as a sidearm against Germans and Filipino Bushmen and lasted for over 60 years only to be replaced by some Italian piece of **** with a smaller pee hole.

The law is that you are to load up 5.0 grains of Bullseye and everytime you fire it you are to remember our military history and have a small celebration with each trigger pull.

Just remember that when you are celebrating the most awesome and compelling pistol cartridge in the world that you should not be pointing at other people. That could turn a patriotic and sense of pride in ownership moment into a life sentence and there will be no more celebrating after that.

Like I always say, "If it is a Automatic Colt Pistol in dot four five one, then you load it with Bullseye, and shoot to have fun."

John Browning is a friend to gun owners around the world and rumor has it that in a cage fight he kicked the **** out of Alexander Glock... Witnessing that fight were Jim Rogan and Jack Daniels.

Sorry, Jim Beam told me to write it that way... That is what I get for listening to him tell me names and figures... Oh and now he is cracking up at the bench... Jerk...

Jim Browning is John's clone. He invented guns like the RIA, Metro Arms, Pistola Sistema Colt Calibre, Cimarron and others. He also worked with Hodgdon in developing Universal, Red, Blue and Unqual and he helped Alliant develop Clay Dot.

Update......took my 10 rds of bulleyes 4.5 gr with 230 gr plated with min 1.265 oal for a try.

This was my first ever reload, so I was a little concerned. But everything went fine except 1 that felt light and failed to lockback slide. Shot them 1 at a time to test that.

Now I will go up to the ladder to 4.7.

Anyway, thanks for the help, and glad I got the jitters out.

                        Good job!
I remember the jitters I had when shooting my first reloads, I wanted to tie my 1911 to a tree and pull the trigger with a string, but the shots fired just fine. At 4.7 you still have margin, so you ought to do well.

                        Thanks for the update.

It won't be long before you're filling up ammo cans to the brim with loose rounds.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.
