They will continue to pay online pricing and buy ammo online at bulk prices. Turns out, these laws don't work. Technically, they are criminals, but not actual criminals as in the next group. Unaffected.

Elaborate please? How can they continue to buy?

I'm not going to advocate for or tell how to break the law.

I think Khol's has CLUES on sale this week. I suggest you stop in and buy a few...

On another note, do I need to save my receipts for my ammo now for when I go into the Nevada gun range to shoot my mp-5 and other toys that cost too much to buy food for at those ranges? I mean, really, 1.00 a shot for 9mm? COME ON NOW! $90 function test...

Buying ammo online after the 1/1/2018 will be enforced the same way as 10+ round magazine sales.

After the CalDOJ raped a few online sellers who ignored the law, it became very difficult for the average joe to purchase 10+ round magazines online and ship them to California. Yeah, there are some straw man purchases to friends who forward them illegally. But overall, the scheme worked. It limited most of the imports, and drove prices up.

For those of you who suggest that a misdemeanor is no big deal, it can be. It may take your professional license, or stop you from getting one. That includes: Doctors, lawyers, stock brokers, real estate agents, day care providers, hair stylists, restaurant licenses, liquor licenses and eventually UBER drivers.

I think the goal is to drive prices up. The fallout from that is that fewer and fewer people will participate in shooting sports, and that will mean less people to oppose the total ban.

This is the same strategy used to limit cigarette purchases. It has been very successful. Yes, there are some hold outs, but the number of smokers is greatly decreased.

People will not use their guns. New people to the sport will be less likely to want to try. Once that happens, it will be trivial to ban firearms owned by the public when no members of the public regularly use them.

Higher prices will mean less people buying. That will lead to closures of stores and firing ranges. The few remaining ones will be greedy and charge more. The result will be even less people participating.

              Back to the original question:

In the short term, the prices will rise.

If vendors can figure out how to make more money, new vendors will come in to sell at higher margins. Which in turn will drive prices back down. This second phase may take a few years.

Also, the actual buyer's market for ammo will become less, as people will buy less frequently, as it will just be a hassle.

First few years will be a disappointment for the vendors. All active shooters have been stocking up and setup reloading.
Thats what I did, set for the next 5-10 years...

Might have to get some more powder and primers for .308 if I like my new rifle enough. But thats it.

Does not matter right now .
The anti gun people got the law passed , but then when away , time limit has expired and both the CRPA and NRA has sued - maybe good for another year .
Git off your butt , teach your family friends to shoot .
Next party - Nice house , how are you going to protect it and your family when the earthquake hits ?
Cops - call them now and say you think there is a prolwer - see how long before they show up - then wonder if your phone will even work .

Try the positive approach rather then fear.

How about taking friends / family to a nice outdoor range and have some FUN with .22's
It even got my 74 year old dying mom from the Netherlands who was very scared of guns all jazzed up. It was the last fun thing I did with her.
