9mm fmj berry bullets 115 grn

My Beretta pistol is a Bullseye Competition pistol built up by Gunsmith David Sams. It is an early version with a Bar-Sto barrel and the barrel is not removable from the slide. David Sams recommended a 115 grain FMj with 6.0 grs Power Pistol. He said, based on his testing, the best accuracy was with a velocity between 1150 fps and 1200 fps. I tested Titegroup, I think the Powerpistol was more accurate, but, I was shooting offhand. As usual, I test factory ammunition for velocity and try to keep under that velocity, assuming that less velocity means less pressure.

I have an insane amount of different powders. To avoid that, use a powder that does lots really well. For 9mm, 380acp 38 Spl, 40 S&W, 45 acp, you really can't go wrong with Win 231. For 308, 223, Varget is a good accurate choice in most guns and H335 is extremely versatile with medium and lighter bullets.

I'm trying to slim down my different powders to 10 or less, at the moment I have over 20 different powders which is starting to become unmanageable.

For 9mm which I have been reloading for since 1982. Bullseye is a great choice and it meters well.

For a Reloading Manual I suggest Speer.

Bullseye is a great powder for 9mm, .45, .38 and several others.

Varget is a very consistent powder and great for .308 and good for .223 but it is expensive, hard to find some times and it meters for ****. I'd use the h335 if you are never going to .308.

I do plan to go 308. I read h335 can handle the 308

For .223 and .308 - try TAC and you won't go back. :-)

I am one of those guys with too many powders. If you want to simplify your life stick with W231/HP38 for pistol and either W748 or H335 for rifle.

Any other suggestions? I will start with a few times loading 9 and if goes well move up to 223

I LOVE WST and WSF, but CFE pistol is getting to be my new favorite HOT pistol load. If you want a bunch of sissy loads, get some RED DOT or some PB or even ZIP. IMR PB was great for making 115 FPS .45 loads (highly exaggerated.)

But CFE is good stuff. HS-6 is good for 9mm, WST and WSF, Blue Dot can also be used for 9mm. I have load data that I just got out of that. I need to chrony it all, but there ya have it.

W231 AKA HP-38 USED to be good stuff. Then two school shootings happened and the country ran out of it. Any that was found was sold for about 30-45/LB. Matter of fact, some dumbass Marine on Gunbroker was trying to sell off HP-38 for around $40+ per lb. AND charge hazmat AND charge shipping. Whether or not he was a real Marine is debatable, but he had a US MARINES flag for his background, so I just called him a Dumbass Marine. He was certainly a gouger.

So I tried other powders and Bullseye and power pistol are also good in that.

BUT- if I had to only have 3 powders for 9mm, I would pick:
1. CFE Pistol
2. WST
3. HS-6 or Bullseye.

One more choice for rifle is 8208XBR, Works well in both 308 and 223.

And another: IMR 4064 is usually easy to find; works very well in 308. Reportedly works in 223, but I've never tried it.

Personally, I load Varget for 308 and CFE223 for 223.

For pistol, I'm using the last of a 10 or 12 lb jug of 452AA (about 30 years old, I think) for target loads in 32SWL, 38Spl, and 45. Plan to go to Titegroup when that runs out.
