Adjustable powder bar is less consistent than the disk ....

I have the LNL. I'm no expert with it, but I've used it for 4 years and loaded thousands of rounds on it. I don't have a case feeder, but occasionally use a tube-fed bullet feeder die.It has it's place, but that place is NOT precision loading. If you want to crank out lots of practice ammo, it's great for that. Mine functions well, no issues with alignment or problems with primers, etc. My biggest issue is that the shell plates tend to wiggle and flex, resulting in a wider variance in seating depth and crimp that I would like. Seating depth is still better than what you get with factory white box stuff, but not to my liking. To be honest, the most action that press sees is for case prep: size, prime, expand. It's an expensive unit for that job, but I can do a bunch pretty quickly and have them ready to charge and seat on the single stage. I'm leaning toward a turret for the job of charging, seating and crimping my range ammo. When I want tighter tolerances, I use the single stage, shim the shell holder, use matched cases and quality bullets.

So.. if you have the time to do up a buncha cases ahead of time, maybe you don't really need the progressive. A turret will be faster than the single stage and cost way less, savings you can defer to stocking up on components for now, while they are still available. If it turns out that you don't like the turret after a year, off it and get a progressive.

Depends. If you tell that to Lee, they will tell you to make certain to rotate it 4 times to test your powder. You should test it just like you are making ammo, four pulls of the handle.

I did not like that answer but it was followed up with- take the average of your charges. I think it should work properly with only ONE pull needed, but I am not Lee...

Lee has a micrometer for the auto disk as well. I have one on mine and it is working well.

          Lee adjustable charge bar.

I ran it 40-50 times and pulled 5-6 charges. I had from 4.6-5.1 which is huge for me with running towards the high side anyway...

I put the disk back in and I was right back at 4.7-4.8 so...

Should I run a few more dozen charges and go from there... I guess I could average the charges ... Im just going to use the disk until I have an issue with something...

Man.. from the pix it looks like a dead ringer for the RCBS with micro. I'm with you: I bet the green or red company's case activation would work.

It is hard to say. I did not have that kind of variation. I tried to use the disks the first night but I found that after about 10 rounds of 9mm, I wanted better control over the charge size and I put in the disk and pretty much ran with it ever since. Then I listened to what someone told me about their experience with .44 mag and H-110 and I started loading H-110 loads for the Deagle around 22.gr (21.96 max charge actually) so after a while I picked up the LNL dropper due to being tired of making the 22gr H-110, and also of having to trickle in more.

If it is not working for you, then send it back and get that Auto Drum and give it a shot instead. Let the seller know that it is not very accurate and you are having variances like that. I want to say that Lee might disagree, or maybe it was disagree on .2-.3 variance or so. I forgot, I know they told me to pull the handle 3-4 times, like I am actually using the press and weigh the dropper then, because the powder needs to settle in a bit once it is dropped. Another thing you can do is 1. Get a baffle inside and 2 slide that adjustable charge bar back and forth about 50+ times. I have heard that it sort of "mates" the two pieces together and it makes for a better fit and less variance.

But whatever works for you. If you get it to work better, it is a good little dropper for being made of plastic.

I picked the kit up used and then ordered the charge bar and double disk kit for it. I will try the adjustable bar again this weekend and I am going to order a baffle right now... Hopefully that's it...

Ordered a 3d printed baffle to see if that will help.. If not then I will order a new powder measure... probably the lee auto drum just cause I plan on ordering an LNL eventually so ....

                      Not a bad plan.

3D printer baffle? Nice. I made mine out of a right guard cap... And then I never used it again, but 23 photos of my tacticool baffle exist somewhere I think. Maybe 10 photos actually...

Another thing too, is make sure you have no static cling anywhere. That can mess with charges too. Used dryer sheet rubbed all over helps, I got a graphite spray and coated stuff everywhere and then rubbed things together...

                      hehe.
