    Large Mag Rifle Primers

So I just picked up a 700LSS in 338 RUM. It came with a batch of reloading components/ powder/ etc. No primers. So I start with a google search for a source. Crap!! It seems like everyone is out of stock in all manufacturers. So what the 'H' going on besides the obvious?? Chicken Lips time?? Luckily I have 400 rounds of custom loaded 338 RUM food, so I'm not in a great need, but it would be nice to add a thou to the stash....

With that cartridge I would be looking for Fed 215 primers. Not real easy to find.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

I'm finding that out.... Anything in the 375H&H parent caliber should be a
        215. 264WinMag, 7mmRemMag, 338 RUM, and probably a few others were all built on that venerable old caliber....

That said I'm noticing a lot of other primers are also 'out of stock' with no backorder in sight...

Theys good people. Get a few bricks of primers and some powder to help spread the hazmat fee. I just got a package from them today coincidentally.

                Powder valley is good people.
I still suggest you wait and get the Federal 215. Ask any local shops to see if they can get them. That is how I was able to get mine and the cost was the same as for Win primers.
I use the Fed for my 257W/264win mag/300win mag and 338win mag. Often also for my 25-06 since it groups better with them than other brands.

Thanks for the info. I just checked and it's the same story there as everywhere else.... Out of Stock.. No Backorder.. Besides I wouldn't need much and the $28 buck hazmat would be a killer. So the search goes on..

What, you didn't anticipate needing primers for your .338?

Federal 215's have not been available anywhere in well over a year. It's the one primer that never recovered from the "Great Primer Shortage" of the past couple years...

Try CCI large primer magnum. I'd be surprised if that didn't work. Federal primers are hard to get right now. Winchester primers are trash unless you like piercing primer cups.

When you already have 400 rounds of 338 ammo, you don't really think about rolling any more. Wasn't planning on reloading the 338 until a lot of components came with the rifle. Serious reloaders have way to much time on their hands..... :-)

I did look in a couple of places for CCI but ran into the same shortage situation. So figured it wasn't just Fed. I don't mind using CCI. It's what I've used for years loading shotshell. I was just going by what was suggested on the Nosler site... Guess I need to switch search gears?? What I'd really like to do is find something locally and dodge the hazmat. Thanks for the info on Winchester....

If you find primers locally expect to pay ~$50 for LRM.

You gotta pay to play. Buy a few thousand primers and some powder to split the hazmat up. It will save you money in the end.

None for over a year?---I got some from my local guy about 3 months ago. He had to order them in. They were $39 as I remember. I would not have paid $50+.
