To convert over to 45ACP you would need to change the primer system to Large, and the shell plate and buttons, seater assembly, case feed plate, case feed arm bushing, flip the case slide around, large primer magazine.

      Did you change those?

I have a separate primer system to make it easier to go from small to large primers, but if you don't you would need to change the primer magazine from small to large that goes inside magazine tube. The rotary primer disc on the bottom would need to be replaced with the large primer disc as well, and the primer pin (seating assembly). The slide for the case feed needs to flip around from the short side to the long side, and the casefeed body bushing which is on the bottom side of the case feed tube needs to be swapped out. The casefeed adapter on top should be the white one, same as for the 308 and 30-06. The shell plate and buttons are the same also. Casefeed arm bushing should be white as I recall, same as for the 308/30-06. And don't forget the seater assembly (primer pin). There's quite a bit to change over.

You need to put the large pistol plate in the case feeder. Oh, and the feed ramp that he slider drops the case onto. You need the large one.

I think that should cover it pretty much.

I consistently had some S&B brass that was harder to seat primers in. But your pics are pretty clearly just not seated enough. While i see folks saying to just "push harder" - i'd caution a couple things until you get the "feel" of it. First make sure your large primer seating "anvil/press" is all the way in and snug. Make sure it's clean and clear of any debris/powder.

I'd also use kinetic puller first - remove the bullet and powder from at least the first couple to be extra safe. Probably be fine as-is, but until you figure this issue out - a discharged primer under powder and bullet would be bad!

As for the case gauge and brass not fully dropping in - my range picked-up brass sometimes will have one like that. Usually scuffed up a bit from kicking around or stepping on it. Flip the brass over and spin it into the SS case gauge. It should remove the burr (if it's that simple and not bulged) and then try it again in the gauge like normal. That usually fixes it for me. Brass being so soft, i haven't worried about the stainless case gauge. *edit - and if for some reason it's actually bulged brass - it gives you a good scuff on the case to see that's the issue vs just a burr on the rim of the case.

              GL!

                  650 Primer system

                  Hey.
I am new to reloading, & the dillon 650. I find most of my priming problems are, going to fast, & dirt/gunpowder in the shellplate. I also spend time cleaning & prepping primer pockets.
                  Goodluck.
