It would help if you could show the actual headstamp of the cases to see if they are crimped.

I agree with MrElectric, have you checked the primer pin to make sure it's screwed in tight, Also make sure the shell plate screw is holding it tight and there's no play there either.

The shell plate take a bit of feel, you need to loosen the 1/8 allen head from the left side of the ram, and adjust the shell plate bolt while turning the shell plate to make sure it's holding the shell plate nicely. Then re-tighten the 1/8 allen head screw from the left side of the ram.

You will need to give more information, like type of case, were the primer pockets cleaned by the company you purchased them from, or were they new cases?

The primers should not be hard to insert, and you shouldn't need to force them. Looks like 9mm from the side, but hard to tell in your pic.

it's your primer seating gig. can't remember the name. I had the same issue. get some needle nose pliers up there and make sure it's screwed all the way in! happens a lot when you switch calibers. makes sure it's screwed all the way up and it will solve your problem.

If you put the loaded round in the primer seating station and try to push the primer in all of the way does it go in or do you get resistance?

If the primer goes in all of the way easily then you simply are not pushing the handle firmly all the way on the upstroke. If it doesn't go in easily then you have another issue.

            dillon 650xl primer seating problem

I have a similar issue with my 650 and it doesn't matter whether I'm loaded 9, 40, 45 or 38/357. Some primers just don't seat completely. I have no doubt some are my issue (not pushing forward far enough) and others are caused by the brass. Either way, my final QC catches the issue and I correct it with my hand primer.

you did not say primer brand the tula /wolf primers are a 1/2 tho larger than normal and if these are used you really have to give the primer a good push.

do not worry you will not squash them

case gauge try more crimp I use .470-.472 if you do not have a caliper get one also see if you are seating the boolit out too long both will case case to sit high in gauge.

This could be caused by not enough crimp. At least that is where I've seen it.

Speaking for myself, I prefer to use the same headstamp if possible when I reload.

Could be the primers you're using, but you didn't say which ones or even what dies you're using, if there's a crimp die, etc...you didn't show the headstamp on the cases with bad primer seats, so it's not known if they are the same cases or not...

There are really too many variables to try and mind read.

Make sure your shell plate is as tight as possible without binding, then make sure that your priming anvil/pin is screwed fully into the base. If the shell plate is loose you won't get a full stroke from the priming pin because it will just lift the plate up. If the pin/spring assembly isn't seated fully then you are losing stroke when you try to seat the primer, the pin won't extend up through the shell plate fully.

It looks like either the pin isn't pushing up fully or you aren't giving it a full push on the priming stroke.

For the case gauge it could be caused by not enough crimp, or you may not have your sizing die adjusted properly. On my sizing dies I screw them down until the touch the shell plate and then back them off just enough so that they don't make contact.

Also, is the 650 new from dillon or did you buy it used?
