That's exactly my point. While in "production" my de capper will de prime regardless. But setting the new primmer.....is not so accommodating.

Jmp that is great on a single stage, but on a progressive it does not work that easy you get powder all over the pace and loaded rounds without primers.

If you're setup for LPP reloading on manual progressive press, at the priming station you will know when the brass has the small pocket as it won't seat at all - then just pull that brass and continue with the process flow.

Why yes, there is. Look at them. If you doubt your ability to discern the difference at a glance. Place one of each, mouth side down on your bench as reference when you sort your brass. Then keep them seperate for loading and shooting purposes after sorting.

That's kind of how I do it, but I use empty ammo trays. After you do a few hundred of them, you get pretty good at telling which is SPP and which is LPP by eyesight. Then, after you fill up a tray of 50, look again at them. I've missed maybe 3 or 4 out of several thousand with this method.

Yes, I keep the SPP ones as well for their own reloading run.

I'm pretty sure that rig in the video is all automatic. He pulled it out manually to show for the camera. In operation the LPP brass is loaded and the SPP is kicked out. Probably can be ran vice versa also

Well then THAT could be a good thing, because that would make NO SENSE to have to be there to do that manually...

But I OH, I see, I bet it uses a fixed ejector (Dillons eject on the left?) for all of the ones that stay behind aka LARGE pistol primers...

Visual aid for SPP & LPP

Hi all,
First time post on CG. Here's how I ID LPP v. SPP. I use a jeweler's 1/8" wide flat-bladed screwdriver and I put the blade right on top of the primer and if it covers it completely, it's a SPP otherwise it's a LPP. I like the visual part of it because it's much easier on my eyes. I just sorted 500 45 ACP and it took me all but 15 minutes (if not less) to do so. I also noticed on Federal's SPP, there's a "dot" that's stamped on both sides of the "Federal" stamp. I hope this helps!

Just a question...I picked up a thousand primers that had been 'culled" by a good guy so no hassles with him...what I bought were all LPP (supposed to be)..found a bunch of Winchester in the batch ...they all had the same headstamp with no extra markings...about 10% would not take a LPP (Winchester)...looked like a "ring" around the primer pocket (they were all deprimed)...I can trim the pockets and the lpp primers will seat but the pockets are just a tad shallower..does Winchester stake any primers (commercial) or has anyone run into this? I just tried to insert a primer pocket uniformer tool and if it went I ran the brass and the few that were smaller would not take the uniformer...but the "tight ones" are too big for a small primer...confused? so am I.

u have crimped primer pockets, use ur deburing tool to take out the crimp if u don't have a primer pocket swager.
