    Ca lead free

So I need to look into lead free ammo for several of my hunting rifles and would like to know of the best sites to look at online. Suggestions? I look at ammo spy regularly but wondering what other sites are good?

Ammoseek.com is a great site and lists ammo in order of price per round.

Or you could start reloading your own. MidwayUSA always has Nosler E-tips and solid copper Bergers in stock. All you'd need is a single stage, a 2-die set etc..etc...but it'd be really simple to reload for hunting rifles..

Cover your butt and make sure it is approved by dfg.

No Norma is on the list in the first link I posted above.... just wait, soon it will be like the safe hand gun roster and manufacturers will have to submit samples with a fee and if they change anything in the manufacturing process new samples will have to be submitted for testing.

I am so disgusted by this idiocy. I don't reload, but will probably start because of this bs. I wonder how many evil "untraceable" ammo manufacturers this law will unintentionally yield.

ROFLMAO . The manufacturers already have to get on an approved list by sending in samples , your a little late to the game .

Most of these projectiles are also classified by the ATF as "armor piercing" so it won't be long till they ban all these projectiles also, and render CA the only bullet free state! Lol
Oh and I thought that the cause said it had to be "manufactured" ammo, so reloads didn't count? I don't want to start a war, but if that could be clarified that would be great.
Still I guess it's not stopping anyone from buying a box of legal ammo and putting their own reloads in it.

Here is a link that will show you how to get your projectiles certified :

Armor piercing is different , hunting ammo must be "expanding".

Now I have a little round designed long time ago for varmit hunting in both pistol and rifle ( just had a new barrel custom made just for lead free ammo)
that even with a flat nose lead core jacketed round it puts little holes in steel targets ( at 100 yds) , even those made to withstand a lot of abuse.(Think in the neighborhood of 5.7x28 in a 24" barrel)

Make em fast enough and small enough and it will go through armor.

And don't you think they haven't already thought of banning it ?

I understand they need to sample to make sure there is no lead but what I was referring to is it will probably resort to the same strong arm tactics the DOJ uses on the safe gun roster.

That application reads more for comercial ammo manufactures not private reloaders. I wasn't aware that it applied to the GP as well.

So has anyone in the current condor area sent in their own reloads to get approved?
