Fortunately I am a little OCD.
I just counted the box of 250 JHP bullets, there were 251.
You bet I'll have a few scales.
    "Within spec" isn't good enough.

Sometimes the layout on the face of a gauge, a ruler, a scale, ect ect, is just better on one verses the other.

My 1978 RockChucker and my 1984 450 Dillion have never let me down. With that said, After 25 years of continuous reliable service, I'm about to pull the trigger on a Forster Coax machine.

I am not, not not not not the engineering type. But those that are often gravitate towards this very expensive machine.

I am in Denair, very close to Modesto. PM me and I will give you my phone number. I have been reloading for many years and have helped get a large number of people started. I also have a range we can go to and shoot/test.
A 30cal will reach out and touch them. A 50cal will kick their butt.

          Is mid-week doable for you?

I learned just watching youtube videos and reading online.

Currently just use a Lee Hand Press.

At this point would like a progressive, but money wise isnt a priority. I churn out enough 9mm for my needs with the hand press.

              That doesn't make any sense.

                    1. YouTube is your friend. I started on a Lee hand press with no other guidance except online threads. You'll learn who is a better source of information than others. Don't accept anything as fact until you see common trend of common sense. That and attention to detail will keep you from doing any damage. Your mistakes should be found well before they make it into your magazine.
                    2. You can never have too many reloading manuals. Powders and bullets are fun to experiment with in pistols, from time to time.
                    3. Start with a single stage. There will always be a use for it after you've moved on, especially if you load for a bolt action rifle someday. If you shoot less than 1,000 rounds a month, a turret press will serve you well. Lee's are great and my Lyman T-MagII with manual index is too much dam fun.
                    4. Read the instructions carefully before you set up your dies. Published minimum OAL is just that, the minimum. Better accuracy is often had when the ogive is a few thousandths off the rifling. A taper crimp die is overkill for a 9mm IMO. Enough tension by the case mouth on the bullet can be a had with a Lee bullet seating die. Using an FCD for cast lead bullets is a no-no.

                    Good luck.

Is one of the premier reloading equipment suppliers today but one thing I noticed wrong in all there videos was no progressive presses were ever used.

I've experienced slow shipping with them. Not a deal killer but just saying.

They shipped the same day I ordered the press.

I'm just getting into reloading myself and bought the Lee Classic Turret kit. I'm just waiting for my digital scale and Lee powder charge bar to be delivered to get started. I understand your hesitation to just jump right in. I have everything set up for 9mm, .45 acp, and .223, but won't start until I can verify, without a doubt, my powder weights and trust the consistency of the press to throw powder. I am also noticing inconsistencies in recipes between manuals and powder websites, so I've been scouring the internet for recipes and looking for common trends among other reloaders.

What I tend to say (well, what and how I say it actually) sometimes (all the time) is taken the wrong way. Mainly because I preach rhetoric. I am a smartass who loves to be sarcastic but sadly, there is no sarcasm font, so I am misunderstood by several members (many) so I will be as unsarcastic as I can be here.

You can quote me as saying reloading is an art. I have said it plenty of times and mostly just for laughs. The fact is that reloading IS very much a science. It is based on pressure and physics and friction coefficients along with ballistics and metalurgy (sp) along with nitocelulose and double based controlled burning monkey mother****ers and when it comes down to it, YOU as a reloader must get ALL of those under control. But not at once, so start where you can, get the books, FOLLOW THE PUBLISHED LOAD DATA and then when you have an understanding and firmer grasp on how things work, poke your head out of your shell and start to walk around and explore those loads a little. I take the artistic freehand approach with a little dab of science, while other guys take more science and numbers approach. Of course, the difference is I just like to make things that go bang. Hey I do not deny it. My ammo is the most inaccurate ammo the world has EVER seen. And it STILL allows me to punch 1" stickers out at 25'... When I move further into rifles I will be looking for 1" at 250' and that will grow, but for now I am happy banging around.

You will find different published loads all over the place as a noob and you will not be sure of what to make of it, but once you have been there and done that, you will find that when you revisit those loads down the road, they were not all over the place, but this load was done with THIS barrel and firearm and this other load was done inside a controlled chamber with a metal block and copper crush washer? WTF? So yeah (so much for losing sarcasm) this may look foreign to you, but once you get down and start following, then it will come to you a bit more easier and you will start to see the matrix as what the code represents instead of the actual code...

It is good that you have started looking for trends. Yes, look for that fibonacci pattern, the general means and averages and NOT necessarily specifics and you will see that although you have 8 different starting points with 22 different sources, all of those sources agree that these other points are all safe... That is a good trend that you can bet on. Start low and work your way up.

Do you trade too? Looking for trends is a day trading thing to say... heh...
