Windows 9 "new" start menu ?

This may be the start menu for W9 that's going to be
released soon. I still use W7 Ulti and have for a long time.
I used W8 Pro for a while and of course disliked it even
with the tips and tricks from Windows 8 Forums.

Maybe this "new' one for lack of a better word..[band-aid ?]
will be a lil better, I don't know.

They should just focus on removing bloat from OS and security the rest is window dressing. No pun intended.

But consumers can't get worked up over something that just works good.

What I would like to see is a lean OS with a small print in RAM, Easier to manage security, And a better server interface.... but of course I could always fall back on my fedora core machines....

I'm not really excited about this "Cortana" bullcrap either, I mean when I was a kid I loved Halo but that is by far one of the worst Siri-knockoff names ever.

Windows ME sucked, but 2000 was flawless, NT kind of sucked (w/no AGP support OOTB)....
About every other version of Windows sucks/sucked.


Linux has come a long way, and Elementary OS Luna is pretty nice, however Linux distros are getting as bloated (in boot time for no obvious reason) as Windows recent GUI interfaces. (Pear Linux was GREAT, hell I used it on my work desktop for 6 months when I got pissed off at Windows 7 32bit, but got bought out and the newer developers have their heads up their backside...)

I used Ubuntu hardy heron for quite a while several years ago and loved it. My only problem was the lack of support for gaming. Has that turned around yet?

I use windows 8 for better multi core support. You can simply turn off the start menu if you don`t like. My desktop goes straight to a real desktop when on.

I really wouldn't know, I have XBOX 360's.

I haven't really played PC games since EverCrack...

For $5 anybody who has Windows 8 can turn it into Windows 8 but with a Windows 7 interface.

I have 2 systems, one is Win 7, one Win8. They operate almost exactly the same interface, start buttons, and so forth. About 99% the same.

This is because I use Stardock Start 8. Yes, $5 does away with Windows 8 nonsense forever.

You can also switch back forth with one key (but I never switch back to Win 8 mode).
You can (if you want) click a few buttons to select any features of Windows 8 you want to turn on or off. Or turn them all on or off. This click menu is very fast and simple.

Zero learning curve, because the desktop will all look and operate exactly as Windows 7.

Best $5 I ever spent.
