Don't ask me how I know.

Amps are so cheap these days, just trash it and find a bridgeable unit. Amazon and you can probably pick up a great deal.

As for that particular amp, it is already broken, so why no open it up and replace the entire terminal block. I am sure you can get the part you need from Digikey or Mouser for a couple of bucks.

Here is the Service Manual for the unit complete with parts list:

The exact part number from Kenwood is E70-0838-05, but it is almost certainly some standard off the shelf part made by Amp or the likes. The part is marked as discontinued by Kenwood, and I could not find any available through any brokerages. Best bet it is take the amp apart, remove the terminal block, and take measurements. Start looking through digikey for a part that you can make work. This is really a simple project if you can operate a screwdriver and solder iron. Both are about the same complexity level.
    Good stuff Tex, thank you

It won't be any hassle as my car is already wired for a system. Last person who owned my car must have had a system installed. Too bad he didn't leave the stuff . I have one amp powering the 4 speakers now, it needs bass though.

Never mind. That looks like a bad idea.

Get more pictures of the terminal block... Get one of the area (where it connects to the PCB) and one from the front but further back so I can see the entire part with the cover removed.

            Ha! Found your part.

Go order this and do it right:

                OK... Stop for a second

For that amp the broken terminal is irrelevant. It is a mono amp and only has one channel.

so just use the two inside terminals, forget about the others

If your not comfortable building something, but a prebuilt box and sub

you don't have a ton of power, so you want to look for something not based on how many watts it can handle, but how efficient it is.

                here are two examples -

rockford will handle more power, but if you put 300 watts on each one the kicker should be louder because it is much more efficient

                good luck

Thank you for this. At least I know I can run this amp as is. Which is all I really wanted to know. Thank you all who have posted in here.

Might as well get the correct part and do it right so you do not have to run a ghetto amp... Just saying.

One last question. If I use the amp as is am I getting 300w to one subwoofer? Or is it 150W? Yeah I don't know **** about stereo systems.

I don't know how to solder though. I'd have to take it to someone who knows how. I may just get something on craigslist that isn't broken.

Get the part and send it to me. I will fix it and return it to you. Just pay shipping.

As for the other question... You will only get the 150w I believe.

As I recall it would need to be bridgeable to get the full power.

I will say it will be cheaper to just go get a solder iron and solder from radio shack. It really is a 10 minute job and easy to do. You will surprise yourself with how easy it is.

I might be able to solder it for you this weekend if you can get it to me OP.
