who do YOU use for a search engine and WHY? (**** google...)

Since Google has decided to become so anti-gun and weapon and 2A and all that, I am dropping them like a bad habit.

I HATE msn/bing, but is there a better one out there? I do not care for yahoo and I am running out of options.

For more security and pic-proxy built-in startpage. The results suck so I am going back to google most of the time. I used bing when I got zero google results for shopping, but most of the time I just don't hit shopping in my google searches anymore, just search specific terms...

I 've been using bing, not because it's all that awesome, but mostly just because it isn't Google. I don't like or trust Google. Not that Microsoft is much better, but they seem a little less evil to me.

I also use Bing exclusively. Won't have anything to do with Foogle.

            I like ixquick

            It is similar to google.

Bing I just do not trust yet. I once recall reading that all that bing did was go to google and copy their info, but now I just wonder if bing is also antigun since they ARE MS/MSN... :\

Data Privacy Day: Are You Still Using a Pre-Snowden Search Engine?
Five easy ways to join the privacy revolution with StartPage and Ixquick
              January 27, 2014
Zeist, Netherlands: Are you still using a pre-Snowden search engine? This Privacy Day, make the switch to privacy-friendly searching. Millions already have, and so can you! Here's how:
              1. REPLACE YOUR NOSY SEARCH ENGINE

Last June, Edward Snowden showed the world how intelligence agencies exploit search engines that store personal information. In response, millions switched to the World's Most Private Search Engines, StartPage.com and Ixquick.com.
StartPage and its sister Ixquick combined are the largest anonymous search engines, and the only search engines that are third-party certified. They are also the only search engines to offer a free proxy service, and consistently outscore other search engines on security measures. For more information, please see StartPage.com or Ixquick.com.
Why I use it is due to Googles policies and also seems to be less clutter on a the page.
I do not like Bing's interface, too much clutter.

I don't care about their attitude about guns, Google has the best search engine by far. And to get the most out of Google, use their advanced search page:

Regular Google and other search engines pale in comparison.

+1 for duckduckgo. I use it any time I want uncensored/unranked/untampered with results. I (shamefully) admit to still using Google when lazy, or wanting to use image / reverse image lookup, etc.

Not when I am shopping for gun parts and they have specific policies in place that ban sites and prevents things from popping up.

and if you advertise that you have gun stuff you will be dealt with.

I aint gonna get into it, they can go **** themselves.

But why so much interest in duckduckgo? What is the draw there? I checked it out and was like, WTF? LAME, but what am I missing? Is it just a sleeper search engine that does a million things or is near the top? What is the deal with that site?

I use DuckDuckGo, it's supposed to a source that searches multiple resources that doesn't track users. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DuckDuckGo

My experience is that DuckDuckGo pulls up a wide variety of firearms sites: history, online vendors, manufacturers, books, magazines, ranges, etc..

If you want to avoid tracking, especially JavaScript, other than paying for an anonymizer service using a VPN secure tunnel or TOR, try NoScript for Firefox and DoNotTrackMe (also for most major browsers https://abine.com/index.html) DoNotTrackMe even blocked one one tracker at calguns.net this session, and 80,010 trackers since December 13, 2013. I only use IE for Windows Updates.

Google is just to intrusive for most uses.
