    2013 MacBook pro?

I want to buy a MacBook pro. The latest MacBook air was released but not the pro! Anyone heard of leaks of a new MacBook pro? I'm guessing near the start of school or Christmas?

If you can wait, then wait and re-assess then... if you like what you see, you can buy it. If not, the old version will be cheaper at that point.

I'd probably just go get an ASUS G series and be done with it

It depends, what you are you going to use it for?

If there isn't processor intensive you might want to take advantage of the Apple back to school special or have Best Buy match that same deal.

The new model is usually introduced after the back to school promotion ends.

I see no reason to own a mac besides coding in objective c (previous owner for this reason). I just can't justify the price.

Unless you need one now, wait.

I think they wanted to release the Pros at WWDC, but were unable to get the battery life where they wanted with the Haswell line.

Next event will be the iPhone event in the fall. They will probably have new Pros then.

That's what I am waiting for, 13" Pro Retina.

Install Pear Linux OS 7 x64 if you currently have a x86_64 PC (6.1 if you have a x86 PC), or finish the AR if you currently have a Mac.

Pear Linux: Mac look, but open source Linux (still pretty new and a bug or two, but based on Ubuntu/Debian).

I switched to Apple a couple of years back & would never go back. If for no other reason than the lack of viruses on mac. I have a Mac Pro & my GF has a Mac Air. My Pro is 2 or 3 years old & so I'm getting a new one soon. I like her Air better than my Pro, but that's just me.... Oh, I voted "wait for the new Pro" because of the choices offered that's what I'd do... Bill

If you know what you're doing, you don't get viruses.
But if you don't know what you're doing, buy a $2000 dollar Facebook machine, aka a Mac.

Mac's business model revolves around simplicity for the end user, which makes you bend to their ToS and proprietaries.

Macs are to California as PC are to Free states.

Wait until Sept for the best deal (back to school). I've had my 13" pro (was not called a pro when I got it) since 2009... battery in the first gen (like mine) was not great, about 3-4 hours (and less since its now 4.5 years old)...but otherwise no problems, still looks great, runs great. I use it as my tv hooked to a 55" LCD with no problems driving it well (and my video cards is way less powerful than the currents). I use it daily for work, study, tv.

Don't forget about apple education store if it applies to you.
Receive a discount on a new Mac or iPad for your studies with Apple Education Pricing. Available for students, teachers and staff.

I have been thinking about the older Macbook Pro with built in CD.
$1299 for i7 8GB ram 750 HD 13"... and you can order and if not custom pick up in store same day. Also they discount warranty and accessories. Just got $20 off the new time capsule. Logged in at the store bought and went to counter.

And Mac haters... I love my Macs. Love coming home to use a computer I do not have to worry about having to Tweak. I write code and deal with Windows PC's all day for work. And VMware and Parallels let me use when I need.

But Alas... I have have bought too many guns this year... and another AR10 this weekend when picking up the 2 S&W 15-22 MOEs I bought to shoot with my boys...

If you need it, buy it now. If you don't need it now, then just wait if you care about having the latest revision.

I used to hate Macs, but I enjoy using my Mac much more than my PC at home or my PC at work... because it flat out just works.
