Don't go SLI or crossfire. Like previously pointed out, they are not additive, and it doesn't even work well in some games. The only reasons to even bother considering it would be

1: Triple monitor gaming setup with a pair of really high end cards to push the needed resolution.(and I doubt you would consider dropping $1500 on videocards plus matching monitors to do this, plus the PSU to handle it...).

2: You happen to have the extra pci-e slot and your 4-6 year old card isn't doing so great on it's own and you can score a matching card for dirt cheap.

Get the I5, and if you want to go nvidia(I'd recommend AMD, but they seem to have forced ATI to make their drivers crappy again, after they had spent a few years making them great... after a few years of being terrible... I don't get what's up with that company), use the cash saved on a i5 over i7 to get a 670.

An SSD is really nice, but it depends on what you're actually doing with it. If you never turn your computer off... having a sub 10 second boot time doesn't matter. If you put applications on it, those will indeed load much faster. If you put games on it, they tend to load faster... but with some games you're waiting on the slowest person anyway when it comes to multiplayer(in an RTS like SC2 when both players need to start at the same time).
I've decided on the new GTX760 as a video card. It blows the 660TI out of the water. Perhaps the 670 also.

I agree with what people share here. Just get whatever i5 on sale, k version if u overclock, z77 mainboard or better, 650 or 660 vid card and u are good to go. You will have to pay much much more money to meaningfully beat this level of performance.

you did well. drop the wattage on the psu. unless youre going to sli soon. a 500w psu will get the job done.

however, you did not list a hard drive or operating system or monitor...

member, the video card/cpu bottleneck always comes down to the next weakest link. i think it maybe your monitor. if you got a gpu that puts out 1080p @ 1920 x 1200 res and youre using a vga cable or lower reso on your current monitor. your priorities are in the wrong spot.

Err yeah I forgot the drive. Im going to get the one you suggested, no need for a monitor or OS. I'm good on that end.

I want to keep a high end PSU with room for SLI. But that 760GTX draws 500 watts of power! That means at least 1000 watt PSU!(SLI) Maybe a single card will suit my needs for a while . Perhaps you can help me trim a little more fat?

I have a eye for good components at a reasonable price, but Im afraid of venturing off into products with low reviews. My friend has a 3 star mobo with a dual PCI mobo that ECS one I listed, no problems at all. He's a gamer so I trust his word.

Before you commit to newegg.com, try provantage.com. When I do tech purchases for work, I have to get quotes from 3-5 different vendors and they usually are the lowest. Tigerdirect.com is also pretty good with their pricing.

All three of these will usually give you a better price if you contact their sales department and ask for a quote with all the components you want to buy as opposed to just adding stuff to the shopping cart.

I want a Nvidia graphics card because my friend insists that I cannot miss out on Physx effects He says anything above a " 6 series " is good. But everything he suggests is too expensive for me.

My old PC has a Quadcore 620 and a ATI 5770 with 256Mb. My old PC can barley play ARMA 3, it struggles badly. BF3 no problem.

                  Any suggestions?

Get an EVGA card. it's an Nvidia, but special. Processor is important but not the most important for gaming. You will need lots of fast (ddr3/4) RAM (8GB min for a modern gaming desktop) and 2-4GB of video RAM.

Look up benchmarks for graphics chips and compare. basically any i5/i7 will work. Sound card can be important, but it can be added later. get as large a power supply as will fit in your box (650+) and make sure the case is as ventilated as possible.

I highly recommend shopping for components online (amazon/new-egg)

Also, Get a solid state HD for your OS and primary game files, and use a standard HD for everything else. The boot time and data retrieval will be much faster off an SSD.

Edit: lol too late I gues. nice machine

                  Great advice^^^

Just remember that it's usually better to buy from a single retailer to save on shipping, unless its free, or significantly cheaper.

Dare I? Yes I do. Gskill ram and WD Blue is your weak spot here. Better be sure to test that HD out well before you commit to it.

I hope you did not "protect your investment" on any of that. That crap is usually a rip off, and the fact that they even dare to call it an investment disgusts me. Like a brand new car is an investment too then... YWTFE...

Thats it? Thats like complaining about a $500 Nighthawk custom 1911. I paid $2000 for mine and its decent (This was also when the GTX680 JUST came out.)

Hell, one of my buddies paid 9.5k for his alienware desktop but then again...it is alienware.

Lol you sure you want to build a "gaming" PC or just a "PC to play games on".

Alienware is a rip off. 9k? I'd take a trip to Europe for that much. Not worth it for a pc.

Hell, one of my buddies paid 9.5k for his alienware desktop but then again...it is alienware.

Lol you sure you want to build a "gaming" PC or just a "PC to play games on".
Friends don't let friends buy WAY over-priced alienware crap.

$9.5k is retardiculous for a desktop. What does it have? 4 quad-way SLI Cards, 2TB SSD, 18TB SATA-3 RAID setup with 6 drives? 1XB NIC, Mobo that supports 4 actual 8 core CPUs or any size/type, just slap them on? Case that has built in gravitational field generator so you can pull it across the floor with minimal effort? 16k LEDs that flash in 22 different patterns? Did I miss anything? Oh wait, What about a 5 disk mini FD drive that will hold 5 disks so you do not have to keep swapping them out. All that plus a blur-ray burner that has the ability to stream a movie to your TV via power lines in your house wiring...

Yeah seriously, he aint your friend, he is some guy that you like to poke fun at...

Oh and I almost forgot, a 2.3GW PSU with a Flux Capacitor that runs off or biodiesel or solar...
