Comcast, from my $15 netgear router 100 feet, 4 walls, and several trees away. The hardwired desktop gets 25 or so.

I've been considering whether to upgrade my modem and wireless router as both are several years old, or just dump Comcast entirely. Looking at wireless offerings but don't like the data limits as I have no idea what data usage my wife and I incur in the average month.

Just for fun, I ran a second speed test using speedtest.comcast.net and got the result below. Hm, whose test isn't telling the truth?

So, I ran a third speed test using speedtest.net (the same site that gave the much slower result shown in my prior post) - this time, it pinged a server in Palo Alto and got this...

I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Comcast's tests use Comcast's servers, always very fast.

Sonic.net DSL. Their Fusion service is outstanding - fast, very well supported - and you get free calling nationwide.
A true home-grown local ISP that is kicking a55.

Worry-Free WiFi, premium fiber internet, low price, and friendly helpful support.

Downloads as fast as 20 Mbps, $40/month. Speed will vary with distance from CO, as with any other DSL service.
