      Time Warner, $60/mo, rated speed 15/2.

      I normally get ~ 25/1.8 on speed test sites.

        I have Charter cable. Internet speed is really good most of the time (20 mbps down but only about 1.5 mbps up). For the most part I don't have problems with the internet but our cable occasionally goes on the fritz. I have their bundle for TV, Phone and Internet but they are pretty expensive. I wish I could get FIOS but no one can tell us when it will even be available in our area so apart from DSL there is no other high speed alternative. I believe their internet only pricing is about $50 a month.

            The neighbors. The contract I'm working on right now is great though; the owner of the home has FiOS and has allowed us to use it as we please.

              Wish I could get verizon Fios but each area is monopolized by ATT or Verizon and I lives in an ATT area that has the max limit of 18Mbs/1.5Mbs @ $34.99 per month. Had the 24Mbs before I moved @ $44.99 and it was bad ***. I am mad because even though my lines are rated to support 25 Mbs, ATT has not yet allowed the 24Mbs to go through. I bug them everyday to allow that download speed but it gets me nowhere so I might switch to something else.

                OK. I wanna get as much details in here because I just switched to Verizon FIOS Triple Play. Installation was done yesterday. I hope this gives someone an idea.

                Before scenario:

                Verizon Landline - Local Only Calls
                Verizon DSL - 3up/1dn
                Subtotal = $61.60

                DirecTV - 1 regular HD Receiver (Choice Ultimate Pkg)
                Subtotal = $64.99

                TOTAL = $126.59

                Now - Verizon Triple Play:

                Verizon Landline - Unlimited Nationwide & Canada Calls
                FIOS Internet - 50up/25dn
                FIOS TV - 1 regular HD & 1 SD Receiver (Extreme Pkg)

                TOTAL = ~$102

                Total includes "$10 One Bill Discount" for those who have Verizon Cellphones. No install/activation fees. Install was straightforward in my case and took about 2 hours. 2 year contract / 2 year price lock.

                Here's what I'm actually getting right now

                    Looking around SF/DC area. I don't want any TV package since I stream everything. I do play some video game (BF3) online from time to time. So I do need a bit of speed.

                    Thanks in advance!
                    I have AT&T at work and Comcast at home. Even though I'm not thrilled with Comcast's prices, their speed is vastly superior and their customer service could never be worse than AT&T.

                    I know a VP at Verizon and he told me about 1.5 years ago that they are starting to push fiberoptic to the bay area (although it's going to take awhile). I can't wait for Verizon FiOS.

                      $70/mo, 25-30 DL, upload whatever it is, I don't keep track.
                      You don't want AT&T anyway. The service is buggy, the customer service can NEVER seem to figure it out. I know, either I fix the problem or my IT support from QES ends up getting it sorted (anyone near Pleasanton that needs a GREAT computer shop or in business support look these guys up).

                      My wife was in the process of changing our home from Comcast internet and cable TV to AT&T U-verse, but the customer service there really stunk. I spent over an hour talking to supervisor after supervisor while "setting up the install". I have no idea why I kept having to "have a monitored call with ___", the last supervisor's supervior, but finally got the install set up.

                      The closest available date was three and a half weeks away. The next day I walk into my office and my staff says, "Duane from AT&T called, he wants you to call back." Unfortunately Duane didn't leave a number because "you have it". I didn't have it, especially at work.

                      I call AT&T customer service and they somehow didn't know who "Duane" was. I arrive home 2 hours later and have a message on my answering machine. It states, "Hi, this is Duane. Call me back about your installation." (again, no phone number). A message time stamped 20 minutes later said, "Hi, this is Duane from AT&T. We had a conflict on your install date and since you didn't call back we cancelled your order. Please call back to re-order."

                      I called back only to find that they wanted me to go through another hour on the phone-and wait in line after other customers that were "already on the line". DirecTV has never looked better and I can't tell you how glad I am that I am not dealing with the same poor quality internet and service at home as I am paying for at the office.

                      Avoid AT&T like the plague. You'll thank me.

                          My internet connection is actually a bit faster than this but I'm too lazy to fire up my desktop. This is from my laptop using the wireless connection from my laptop to my router.

                            I am really happy with FiOS (25/15) @ $15x.yz (Triple play w/DVR), and most servers won't even let me download at that...

                              Comcast Xfinity, 49.95/mo (I own the modem).

                              I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

                                You need to buy a newer modem. I can tell by your speeds it is outdated. You want one that supports DOCSIS 3.0 and IPv6. I recommend getting the Motorola SURFboard SB6121.
