Battletech 3025. Got cancelled during beta, relaunched and had issues. If I remember correctly it was the same timeframe that EA also canned Majestic and a few other games that weren't making anywhere near enough money. The battletech game was simplistic, but pretty fun as I recall.

Free 2 play.. I guess I'll give this one a shot.

edit: After looking at the "founder" options... now I'm kinda worried about something to be honest. The 50% bonus for earned xp and c-bills for a "premium" account is fine, however the $40-$80 worth of in game items worries me. Since it's free I'll give it a shot, and I don't necessarily have a problem with spending money on a F2P game(bonus xp, extra slots, etc.) but pay 2 win(idiots dumping hundreds of dollars into the game... *cough DIABLO 3 RMAH cough*, yeah people will do it and it completely obliterates any feeling of competitiveness.

Just hope they have a beginners section.
There was a fan version out built on Crysis and it was pointless
to play. You go in and these dorks that live there wipe you out in no time.

Gonna be like mech warrior 4 with World of Tanks multiplayer, you can always go to a higher tier and avoid most people. 1 life per match, just like WoT.

I used to kick *** at these games online. I had some extremely badass mech builds. I'd constantly get accused of cheating. I'd build big mechs and load them with AC cannons set to link. One volley and the enemies armor was gone and usually it knocked them down. Of course I'd overheat, and I was very slow to move around, and I only had like what, 10 shots? But damn those were fun times. I hated those little turds running around with their tiny mechs loaded with medium lasers just taking out peoples legs... They were easy to destroy but they were so fast that it was tough to get a bead on them with a heavy and slow mech.

This game doesn't have legging in it. Rather, if you shoot a leg out, you'll gimp the other mech and they'll move slowly, shoot the other leg out and then you'll stop them. But knocking out a leg and watching them helplessly fall over was confirmed by the devs on their forum to not be in the game.

I sent my essay but apparently being brand loyal to nvidia since I've owned computers, playing battletech for 20 years and liking the mechwarrior universe enough to give my son "phelan" as his middle name wasn't a good reason to get an invite.

NViDIa can eat dick, I'm only buying AMD stuff from now on.

I prefer AC-20 to the back armor at close range.

Everyone today is spolied by Clan and Grey-Death gear. There was a time when there were no Ammo CASE systems, fierror fiberous armor and endo-steel internernal structure. Let alone pulse lasers and Ultra ACs.

Bah, kids today don't appreaciate fighting in a mech made from cobbled pieces of savlaged mechs because we couldn't make parts or new mechs in any sort of quantity any longer in the Inner Sphere. I fought in the 3rd Successor War, damn kids.

Also that the game does not have legging bites. You need to put mechs face down in the dirt, it is the ultimate insult. Sort of like Clubbing them with their own blown off arm or leg.
