Don't have them come out and pick up the boxes. If they do they usually install a filter like they told you so you won't get TV channels. Return the boxes yourself. Usually when you do that they don't bother sending a guy out there later to add a filter. Plug the line back into your TV and you'll probably still get most of the cable channels minus the digital ones.

Thinking about joining Usenet to give it a shot. Realistically I would be looking for a handful of shows when new episodes are out, Futurama, NCIS, and a few others the GF likes. Oh and I need to get caught up from the beginning with falling skies somehow, GFs uncle got me to watch an episode at their place the other night and now I'm hooked. Is it worth it to pay the extra $5 a month for an unlimited account or should I be fine with a 50GB capped Lite account?

You can get a block account ( you pay for say 50 gigs of downloading credit) to try and gauge how much stuff you will download.

im on the 3 months unlimited for like 10 bucks a month.

Netflix service via xbox 360 (Give all shows in channelss like nat geo, discovery, comedy centera, a&e, amc FX, one season later.
PC with HDMI cord. With enough google fu, you can find all the sports channels you need. They are there everyting from espn to NBA channel. Just attach the HDMI cord from pc to tv. And Honestley its like watching games in the early 90's lol. Ide take it anyday over paying for internet.

I cut the cord 5 years ago. I use a couple of different blogs to get file locker links to download all my shows and movies. I can put most of them on a flash drive and play them on my Playstation 3. I also have a Netflix account and get free access to some content through Amazon Prime.

Just because I love baseball, got a MLB package so I can watch the Giants play. The only downside is no ESPN which makes it hard to watch football, but for that there are a ton of free streaming websites for live games. Not the best quality but good enough for me.

Looking for suggestions, just had a pissing match on the phone with TWC over them raising my price from 128 to 145 a month for cable and internet. Told them to come pick up their F-ing cable boxes. Probably wouldn't have been such a bad experience if the rude employee on the other end of the phone hadn't been so condescending. So I'm going internet only, 20mbps and trying to figure out what to do as far as TV solutions. I have my living room and bedroom to figure out. The router is on a desk shelf near the TV and I have LAN cables going to my xbox and blu-ray, so between those I have Netflix and Hulu Plus for programming. Looking for suggestions for a solution to the bedroom TV as I have just a blu-ray player in there now, and it isn't wireless. Any recommended streaming devices I should look into, I've read a few bad reviews on the Roku boxes that make me a bit wary of spending money on one. Also, are there any other services aside from Netflix and Hulu that I should look into? I've been contemplating making the switch away from cable for a while, but I was a bit hasty in my decision, and therefore a little unprepared. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have your solution, might get frowned upon by some. Build yourself a PVR (personal video recorder) computer and learn to torrent. Honestly I haven't watched a commercial or live TV in years. There isn't anything that can hold a candle to what you can do with a custom home built PC and a decent internet connection. I'm willing to give you more details if you want, pm me.

I pay 212 a month for phone, TV and Internet with Cox. My minimum DL speed is 30Mb on a bad day. Upload is 8-10 Mb. Fastest Internet on the planet as far as I've seen, short of a T-1 connection. I guess you pay for what you can afford....of course I do get a 20% discount for where I work, ( a major cell provider)

Can I ask what kind of Internet you get with DTV? I just wanted to know, because when I worked there, the Internet was thru a 3rd party provider. Has that changed?

A T-1 is only like 1.544Mbps symmetric (up, AND down).

A T-3 is like 45Mbps symmetric.

Your faster than a T1 now. 100 megabit (12 megabytes), or better yet, a gigabit line is fast.
