opinions on newegg?

I ordered my last 2 laptops including the one im sending this message from and have had no problems with them. I shopped around and their prices are good and their service is prompt and fair. I'd reccommend them.

Never had any issues. Prices were usually good- if you bought their "hot" item. Shipping was reasonable. Never had any returns- so can't help there. I really like the review section.

I recently was shopping for another hard drive- I was going to buy from the 'egg but for this model there were too many reviews complaining of crummy packaging used for shipping and corresponding damage and malfunctions. I price shopped against Amazon (had a better price) and free shipping with Prime. I went with Amazon.

Pricing isn't as competitive as it used to be on some things.

newegg used to be better, but they are still pretty good. I met one of the guys that started the company at a work party, very nice guy. He is doing another site called http://autoshepherd.com/

Newegg is good, but certainly not perfect (who is?). Price check all your items, since it is not uncommon to find something significantly enough cheaper from another solid retailer. They do game prices around on certain items pretty fast too so those prices can move up or down in a day.

Another thing that has happened to me, and I have also heard happen, is sending you broken gear. For me, it seemed on one case that it was actually a return that was re-sent out to me as "new", but had a broken piece. When they sent a new one after RMA, I could really tell by the new packing that what they sent me earlier for sure had been opened before, despite being carefully repacked. Sure someone may have done newegg over, BUT they sent a return to me as new on that one, which by default is bad mojo to me. They did though pay for return shipping...

I've bought numerous times from Newegg as well. However, something I should mention. If you see a price that you like, check out Fry's. They'll price match internet prices as well. And many of their existing prices are about the cost of online prices, minus shipping.

So really the only difference is, do you want to use gas money to go to your local fry's, or possibly pay for shipping, depending on the price from newegg. Either way you're paying tax so...

Ever try to return anything to Frys? It's like trying to piss up a rope.
