Need help picking out a Dell Laptop.

I'm looking to get a new laptop. I'm looking to spend no more then 799 before taxes and shipping. I've been looking for the last few days but not sure if to get a icore3, 5, 7 or if the 2GB ram vs the 3GB is worth it and etc. I would be using this laptop for graphic designs. I would LOVE a alienware or xps but those are way out of my price range.

Also was looking at the dell outlet. I noticed they are about $50 to $100 off but some have scratches and dents is it worth it or just spend the $50 to $100 for a new one.

Check techbargains.com, they often have good deals on Dell laptops. For $800 you can get an i7 with 4+ GB RAM and a decent hard drive. Look for either a Vostro, or a Latitude. Inspirons are cheap, and some are decent, but many aren't. Also, check the reviews on the model you're getting, some Vostros are lemons.

Check out Dell Outlet as well. I got my XPS through it for about $1000 (normally $1700 in that config).

What software will you be using? Some graphics software, especially if you are dealing with large detailed images, will need a lot of RAM. You may need to consider the video chip as well. Some use shared VRAM and will take away from your system memory.

AFAIK, the i3-380M is faster. The more RAM the better, but that's something that can easily be added later. I would focus more on a better screen and video, then add more RAM later, if possible.

The i3-380 processor is in the vastro laptop and the 2310 processor is a Inspiron

Which Vostro and which Inspiron? Also, check the sites I gave you, you might find something better for the same price. i3 isn't the greatest CPU out there. Also, with Dell Outlet, you need to refresh it all the time. A lot of Ebay dealers add everything currently available to their cart (which temporarily removes it from inventory), and then drop whatever they don't want from it, or it gets dropped from their cart after 15 min. So the items change all the time.

As noted in my last post I have to buy through dell.com because I have a dell credit card to buy from dell.

Techbargains.com lists the deals from Dell website. Is the Dell credit not valid at Dell Outlet?

You probably know this but if you sign up on Dell outlet they will email you 15% off coupons all the time.

It's the only way I would buy a dell. Refurbed and on sale

And since you are a graphics illustrator I wouldn't worry about this processor or that processor so much as the display, RAM and graphics card.

They will all run Photoshop just fine, the question is how much RAM can you get in it. Also you are better off to buy something that can take a bunch of ram but only comes with the bare amount. They get cheap ram at Fry's.

OK I'm not going to go with dell. I'm going to pay cash for a laptop.

                            Here are my must have's

                            1.) backlit Keyboard.
                            2.) 4-6GB of Ram
                            3.) 17.3 inch display
