I hear about upcoming phones maybe 2 weeks in advance. Most phones w/o any hype behind them just show up in our inventory out of nowhere and it's like oh cool new phone.

Honestly you're better off cruising forums and blogs before asking a sales rep at a store. Or if you're really itching for the Galaxy 2 you can buy an unlocked version from Europe.

My best guess is September/October because the trend the last few years is for the flagship type phones to come out around back to school and before holidays.

With that said the Infuse is the best phone AT&T carries right now. The super AMOLED screen is amazing and the battery life is very good compared to other phones that size. If it were a dual core it would be a no brainer but if you still have a working phone i'd wait for the new Galaxy 2.

I got a little push by Verizon changing their data plans. New iphone 4 came today, unlimited web/email...

He doesn't get to be a pre-release iPhone 5 tester unless he works for Apple Engineering, and if he does, he wouldn't tell you for fear for his job. Apple is the world's biggest freak about product details security.

Functionally, not quite correct. Obsolete usually refers to the fact that it cannot run the current mainstream software/hardware. None of the iPhones are obsolete by this standard.

But there is always some new, cutting edge product being released in two weeks. Usually at a premium price and a productivity hit as you encounter the undiscovered bugs. I always prefer stuff that has been on the market for at least six months if I am spending my own money on it.

Oh, you are comparing the Droid to the iPhone 4. Ok.

What the iPhone has over the Droid.

            Almost twice the processor
            Twice the RAM
            Twice the cameras
            Better screen resolution

What the Droid has over the iPhone 4.

Your comparing to one of the original droids.

Compare to a new droid, and its the other way around.

Of course I am. He said "get a droid"... There's only one Droid, and it would be foolish to get it over the iPhone 4 in regards to tech specs.

"Droid" is generally used to refer to any Android phone, all of which are better than iPhones if for no other reason than they don't chain you to the whim of Steve Jobs.

"Android" is the OS. "Droid" is a term licensed and used by Verizon that indicates a particular Android device that meets certain requirements typically based on hardware and user experience. Not all Android OS devices are "Droids" although there are now many "Droids".

Has nothing to do with specs, has to do if the hardware manufacture wants to pay the licensing cost (LG ally/revolution, both of which speced higher or similar to current models at there time)

The device manufacturer does not determine if their device receives the "Droid" label, Verizon Wireless does. VZW is the one that has paid the licensing costs to Lucas and they make the sole determination based on specs and user experience.

Well, you can see where that gets confusing. I don't know why people would want to do that. With Motorola having a phone that's has been named Droid specifically.

Motorola had the first "Droid" and that is why many still refer to the A855 as such as if its the only one.

We are taking this thread off course and should start a new one to discuss Droids if we choose to continue.

I've read that the new iPhone will have a curved glass screen. Any idea what this looks like?
