ESET NOD32 after Norton 360 was completely corrupted by a worm.

I was listening to Leo LaPorte on KGO last Saturday, he has a technology info show. He said that NOD 32 was the best protection you could get for your computer. We have it on our Dell.
I also have a Falcon trading computer, a lightening fast machine, it came equipped with G Data. Falcon says it's the best.

For Windows XP

At work at at home we use Zone Alarm Internet Security Suite. One person here at work uses ESET. All work computers run through a Netgear UTM 10, with all scanning enabled.

I recommend a combination of hardware and software for any computer for maximum safety.

Macs don't usually get viruses. I'm on Mac, and I've never dealed with such problems (considering the fact the only "anti-virus software" I use is ProteMac Netmine).

Hi everyone. My Kaspersky license is about to run out and I've read through this thread for suggestions on a replacement. Like someone else said, it's getting slow and I'm pretty sure it's missing a few things.

Based on what I've read here the MSE is looking pretty tempting. I'm running XP Pro, Version 2002, Service pack 3. Any other suggestions from you guys in the know?

Let's say that my browsing habits are somewhat risky at times..

I use Avira personal+Comodo firewall + Spybot SEARCH & destroy+Malwarebytes and they are all free! I dont pay a penny for virus protection.

Leo is a very pleasant person, but he gets paid to say that about NOD.

Setup a virtual machine and run your risky browsing habits on the virtual machine. If something happens to it just delete it and create a new machine.

I was paying for virus protection for years----nice they scan-- say that they
removed X amount of infections etc. etc,. I thought my computer was going to die
running so slow---installed Microsoft essentials after removing other virus
protection. Microsoft scanned 1.8 million items--took 5 hours--found ONE
bad item,now my computer runs better then ever.If you have Windows I
really recommend their protection and it is FREE. Pete

I've used Comodo, Nod32, Kaspersky. All are fine.

Favorite tools at work are Malewarebytes, CCleaner, and Hijack this.

We use Trend Micro at work. Stay away from Trend.

Another vote for AVG Free. I've used it for years, and put it on all the PCs I support for friends and family. It lets stuff slip through now and again, but they all do.

McAfee is over rated, though i'd still stick with Norton or Kaspersky.
