    Best AntiVirus

So I have been paying for Norton for about a year now. I just recently made the switch to Kaspersky and I must say I have never been happier with an anti-virus program.

It even has a vulnerability detector which told me my Java,Quicktime and Adobe Reader were all out of date and were vulnerable to viruses (and I just recently got a virus though Java which it found and deleted). I updated all of those programs including Chrome to the recent Beta and my laptop seems like a fortress now.

If you don't use one, have viruses or want to switch.. go to Kaspersky in my opinion. SUPER user friendly as well.. and I am a techie nerd.

Norton Sucks!!! Half the time it can't even clean the virus.

I like Trend Micro much better. Their officescan product is awesome for businesses and their titanium product for SOHO is excellent.

I have been using Kaspersky for the past 3 years. As a matter of fact, I just ordered the new one from Costco for only $20 bucks yesterday.

Eff Norton products, they ALL suck equally.

I have used AVG, Avira, Panda, Kaspersky and Avast all have their own quirks but most are very good products.

I currently use Microsoft security essentials as my main, but I have Avira on rescue CD as a backup.

A lot of the free antivirus is pretty good nowadays like Corbin Dallas mentioned, so there should be no need to be paying for a product like Norton. Just don't try getting the free ones that show up in pop-up messages

I've been using AVG for a while now. It's pretty good. Does it's job. Best of all, it's free!

The free ones work... I used Avast and AVG for years, and still do for customers that just wont pay the $40 for Trend Micro, but the free ones slow your machine down noticeably.

I've used Eset's Nod32 for many years on many computers. it's worked well, no virus infestations on any of the 5 computers I've had in my power during that time.

Nod does, sometimes freak out, though, and refuse to update or prevent some other software from running correctly. Lately I've used a combination of Microsoft's Security Essentials and ThreatFire (both free) and had no issues.

Norton and Panda don't even count as anti virus in my opinion. They are nothing but ad-pushing systems.

Yes, you CAN fit a case of shotgun shells into a .50cal ammo can.

I think i found an optimal solution for ammo can labeling.

I made this target for the NRA's Marksman pistol test. I think it's a lot better than the paper plate they suggest.

Ubuntu ftw! (Just had to get that out of the way)

I used avast for several years while I was still a microslave. never had a virus, and never paid a dime. Win-win.

Avast for free AV, Eset Smart Security for paid. Pay for a Malwarebytes license to get the realtime scanning (perpetual license, no renewal necessary), and Spybot S&D. Better yet, all of the above and add an Untangle box on the edge of your network. If you have kids and an internet connection, take the time to research and implement Untangle. It is a powerful solution that is well supported by the open source community and very intuitive to use.

                      GET A MAC!!!
Microsoft Windows poses THE greatest threat to our national security. Forget about N. Korean Nukes, or terrorism. The Chinese have infiltrated almost all levels of our information networks because Windows cannot be secured.
Even if you run the best Anti-Virus software, until the virus that has infected your computer is identified, it cannot be scrubbed, so it can still cause damage before it is wiped.
Spend the extra money, and get a mac. you will never again need to waste time or money on running AV software ever again.
I don't like steve Job's turtlenecks either, but the Mac OS is far superior to anything Microsoft will ever come up with.

Or you can just install linux on the computer you already have, for free.

AVG, Spybot, and Spyware Blaster. I've had real good success at keeping the bugs out of my various systems through the years and they are free. I'll run a scan with Malwarebytes every so often but it's never picked up anything that's gotten past the first 3. Tried Avast a couple of times but it seemed to take up more resources than AVG. Use Zone Alarm as a firewall FWIW.

Been using that combo on all my computers for that last 6 or 7 years and no issues at all. Just make sure you keep all those program's definitions up to date and you should be good.

Uh No, people just don't bother hacking something with a 6.4% market share.
Nothing is really secure, some more than others. Microsoft just has the biggest bulls eye painted on it.

If the numbers were reversed and Apple had a 90+% control of the business market, China and others would put enough resources into infecting as many Macs as possible
