First of all, Apple didn't "come up" with OSX. They designed a GUI for BSD.
Second, exploits for OSX and Linux do actually exist, and are becoming more and more of a problem.
Third, if Apple had half the marketshare Microsoft does, you'd see just as many exploits. Apple's operating system is not the slightest bit more secure than Windows(actually their Safari browser has had some serious issues lately that not even IE has), the people looking for exploits and writing code to take advantage of it are simply lazy and would rather focus their efforts on the giant with a bullseye on it's back(Microsoft), however that leads to a false sense of security and when OSX issues have been found they seemingly take longer to get fixed by Apple.
Fourth, if you really think that "most of our information networks" are running Windows, you've just shown how lacking your knowledge about the subject even is. In that particular usage setting, you're going to start finding Linux and Unix distros, IOS(that doesn't stand for "iphone os" like people seem to think it does...), and all sorts of systems that would be considered obscure to even most business users. When you see a windows taskbar sitting on a screen, that could very well be just for a client running software to communicate with a backend that's actually doing the work.
