It's weird that the B&M stores would be out...I had no problem buying mine through one.
I was able to get mine by calling Costco's kiosk. They put me on a waiting list and I had it within the week. This was right after launch when it was in high demand. I suspect that it's easier to get now.

If you order by today you get a $30 credit on your first bill.

There is no tax on the phone.

Also if your not into a large phone look into the HTC incredible, its much faster and more comparable to an IPhone 4 where the droid is trying to be like an EVO.
The HTC incredible is NOT faster than the Droid X. The incredible is better if you want a smaller form factor. Most reviews put the Droid X as "the droid to beat".

My brother in law has the Incredible. I have the X. We both think that each phone is amazing. The only difference (for the most part) is the size. The X can be a bit large. I've only found it annoying with respect to the seat belt hitting right in that area when using a belt clip.

This doesn't make me regret having chosen the X. It's an amazing phone. The Incredible is as well, but it is not faster. It's only smaller.

Actually i have a lite build version without the standard sense overlay which is even better.
You can disable SenseUI quite easily, just install Launcher Pro from the market and hit your home key.

Make sure you have at least a class 4 card or your apps will run real slow.

No dual core phones are expected until sometime next year.

Solution: Remove holster from belt when entering car.

Actually I've chosen another solution-just spend a few seconds more to route the belt under the phone.

I didn't say that it was a major issue, but many here seem to be complaining about the size of the phone. It is a little bigger than what most are used to, but my 40+ year old eyes need a bit more screen to read internet pages without magnifying (and scrolling endlessly).

I find that the phone is absolutely what I had hoped it would be.

Droid X's have been available in stores since last week. Just in case others are still waiting.

I bought the HTC Incredible at Costco today. They had the Droid X also, it was $199 ! with the standard two year contract deal.

I already have Verizon and a Samsung phone. My contract time has run out and I can get the Droid X for $149.00. The only thing holding me back is that I have to get a data package and that is another $30.00 per month.

I got my Droid X at my local Verizon store well it was a little farther than the others but they had such great customer service at this one and a working phone to play with so got it from them.

Their website said 2-3 week wait, but at the store they said a week at the most and I got it on the 6th day.

Only thing that I didn't like was that they make you if you want the phone and they don't have one in the store you have to pay for it in full, no waiting list or deposit.

Guess I can understand this will get rid of all the flakes, and those that change their mind so make dam sure you know which Droid phone you want.

Oh I got a 1 year contract on mine which is not offered at some places other than Verizon and I'm loving the phone. Dam thing has no manual and you have to google search for every little thing to use the phone. But once you learn how to use it, it's so worth it.

And Rudy you don't get a smart phone without a data plan. Yeah I pay a little more than the 30 bucks for home internet which is my primary, but having internet on the go when your out and about is so fun and convenient. Waiting for a meal check the internet or my email. Got to look something up real fast whip out the phone and look it up. Need GPS and or driving directions it does it all. So if you don't want to pay or think you'll use it enough to justify having it then a smart phone is not for you. Not to knock you I had a pre-paid cell phone with roll over minutes for 7-8 years no internet or camera on it managed to get by all these years and saved a ton of money. Wanted to treat myself and since my boss gave me a few more hours to cover the monthly bill it's like the phone is free. These new phones are like mobile computers.

Ordered mine last week and got it the next day. I think they are pretty well stocked too. Plus, Verizon is having a buy one get one free sale right now.

The buy one get one free offer doesn't apply to the Droid X it only applies to certain model phones.

I asked about this when the Droid X launched and they said since it's the newest phone they can't offer that but could on a previous model phone like the Incredible.

Sorry. The offer was "buy a Samsung Fascinate, get any other phone of equal or lesser value for free." My wife got the Fascinate, I got the X free.
