Where can I get the Droid X?

My contract with crAp-T-T is up!!! ... but I swear every time I check the Verizon site the ship date for the X gets moved back. It went from 09/06 to 09/10 to now 09/15... I've called a couple B&M stores, but no luck. Anyone know a store in SoCal that has it?

Also if your not into a large phone look into the HTC incredible, its much faster and more comparable to an IPhone 4 where the droid is trying to be like an EVO.

The droid x looks like it could eat the iPhone. I love it.

It's weird that the B&M stores would be out...I had no problem buying mine through one.

I got an Incredible about a month ago. I walked into a store and they happened to have one in stock. Call around to a few stores, either Verizon or authorized dealers and see.

People figure that the phones will be out of stock, so sometimes it just happens that people assume so they don't even call or bother to go in. My local store had 4 X's that sat there on day of launch because people figured they would be out of stock. LOL

EDIT: IMO the X is a bit too large to be put into a pocket. For a woman that has a purse, it's a different story. I'm not a huge fan of Motorola, and the raised bump on the rear where the mechanical shutter for the camera is kind of annoys me.

Keep in mind that I switched from ATT having had both an iPhone 3G and an iPhone 4 to Verizon for the Incredible. Personally I like both the Incredible and the iP, but my Incredible on Verizon has much better service.

To the OP: sorry you're in S. CA. and not in the Bay Area. My Better Half picked up his Droid some weeks ago and is still having fun messing with all the features. While at the CRPA BOD meeting, I had to laugh because he asked if I wanted to sign onto CGN instead of taking notes.

One of my oldest kid's bestfriends works in the electronics department at one of the Target stores. He said the Droids are selling like hotcakes, but when we placed our order, it was ready within three days for pick up.

I JUST upgraded to Froyo about 15 minutes ago. Other than the 720P, what's the difference from 2.1? I haven't noticed much difference.

there's too many to list beyond the ability to download flash 10.1 and google earth for instance and other flash based things like mobile hulu hack - also you got hot spot access a new and improved radio version (hard to explain) you can run apps from the SD card for example and many more.

If you can hold off a month or so, there are some new phones coming that will make the Droid-X a thing of the past.

Dual core 1.5GHz processor is one item that comes to mind...

.....in the bottom of a trash can...all my friends with Droids are pissed off. It was supposed to be better than the iPhone, but when they compare their Droids to other friend's iPhones, they are not as happy as the iPhoners. Several of them have since sold their Droid and switched to the iPhone. All the while i'm stuck with my crappy Sony Ericson telling them i don't want to hear their b*tching.....

the ease of which you can watch youtube or others in hd - flash based porn - receptions better the inc now records in 720p and has an N wireless connection which I use alot with tethering.

with google voice I dont even remember what my actual cell number is and with turn by turn audio dirrections riding my motorcycle out and about is easy since it cuts into the music.

and with the future likely meaning the same OS on your phone is used at home Android is definitely the future.

If you want an X, go check (or call) your Walmart stores.

I got one out of contract from Walmart just after they were released and no VZN store had them in and had a 2+ week wait. The Antioch Walmart had 4 X's in stock. Nobody thinks about walmart for an expensive phone.

Costco stores, check every sat.

I know we get in about 9-12 every sat morning.
