Their are other restrictions, I know if you buy the phone at a verizon store it's cheaper than online so the whole equal or lesser value thing is up in the air. The Droid X is 200, Droid 2 150ish, Incredible I think is 170 all in store.

Best bet is go down and see what they can do for you. Just talked to a verizon rep only certain phones now qualify for this promotion and most are cheaper than the Droid X's 200 price point so buying one getting one of equal value now looks to be a bust.

Only downside I do know of is if you do get the second phone free you have to get a 2 year contract on both to get the deal. And if you cancel before then it's 350 dollar fee.

Really? It's been a month since this post, haven't heard of any new phones yet?

Have had the X for about two months now and love it. Hate the camera though as I just cannot get the flash to work right on it....

Well its been 3 weeks now of hunting for a Droid-X here in Nor-cal.
          From Elk Grove to Roseville.
          No luck yet.

          Verizon stores, Wal-Marts, Costco(Cal-Expo), Fry's Electronics.

Costco at Cal Expo..Verizon Kiosk now tells me they will not be getting any more Droid-x's.

Fry's does not know when they will be receiving some.

I put my name down to be notified at Wal-nart when they will be receiving some Droid-X.
I received a call back and they said they aill no longer be a authoried dealer for Verizion
and then tried to sell me a HTC via T-Mobile.

          Still looking for a Droid-x.

You could have just ordered it online and had it by now.

Costcos typically get shipments on saturdays. I picked one up last sunday, like it so far.

I have the samsung captivate (Galaxy S series), and a friend of mine has the motorola droid x. The x is larger and heavier, but has an 8mp camera. The captivate is smaller and lighter, but has a screen almost the same size as the x. The camera is 5 mp, and works great. I absolutely love the screen on the samsung. much brighter and more colorful than the x. I haven't had any real problems with the captivate or with the android OS. Actually, I've got nothing but good things to say about both. I don't have much experience with iphones, but a few iphone users that I've talked with are considering switching to an android phone after playing around with mine.

The Droid 2 is a great phone you could go either way. It has the same processor and amount of memory as the X so speed wise they are the same.

And it's smaller if you want a smaller phone. I like the X because I watch movies and streaming content so the larger screen is the best, also when viewing web pages or typing.

Droid 2 had 2.2 froyo pre-installed but the X now can get the update so that's a wash.

I really like the glass home keys etc on the bottom of the 2 vs the X physical buttons but other than that I got use to it. Only thing I don't like but a few people must have is a physical keyboard. I tried it don't need it and the buttons are too small even for my girly hands and the extra bulk the keyboard adds is a joke.

If they would make a Droid phone as powerfull as the X and the size of the Incredible they would have a real winner on their hands.

I got the incredible and it's, well, it's incredible!

I too dislike the feel and extra bulk of the keyboards, I'm really happy with this phone!

FYI....Just bought a Droid X for $149.99 plus tax at COSTCO. The sale started today. I went to the Verizon store and was told they could not match COSTCO. The Verizon store went on to say the tax they would charge is based on $599.00. The Verizon store said they would charge $199.99 (with the rebate). Between the tax based on the $599 (about $55.00) and the $50.00 they would not come down off the $199.99 I saved $105.00. Plus COSTCO gave me a case, car charger and a wired headset. Verizon would not match the accessories ... they did offer a discount.

                          Check it out.

Thread is oldddd but I'll throw in my thoughts:

with verizon's new every 2, i got an additional $100 discount for ordering online, so i paid $99 for my droid x. the ship by date listed on the website also indicated that it would be ~1 week wait, but i still got my phone 2 days later.
