    Phone as wifi hot spot

Other devices can see and connect but desktop computer (Win7) can't.

Phone is Galaxy J3 V on unlimited Verizon plan.

    Any hints?

Can the desk top computer connect to other wifi devices, just not to your phone?

this, I could never get my Note9 to wifi to my 2021 new laptop.

wifi on both works fine on real wifi

Prob is then you got another cord, and one of my laptops has only one working USB so I got to use a cord 1 to 5x USB so thats more cords in the mobile office setup.

Desktop can connect to other devices over wifi.

USB tether won't do anything - phone just disables the option once selected.

Point here is my satellite internet latency is too high. Alternate options are MiFi which just died or hot spot which I can't seem to get running.

Maybe it's a 5ghz hotspot and desktop can only see 2.4?

Does the computer see the phones network?

If yes, when you attempt to connect what happens?

                  What message do you see?

Can you forget the network and try again
                  Wifi and password?

SSID is broadcast and other devices can see and connect - desktop cannot see SSID nor connect even if I manually type in ID/pwd.

Maybe turn off encryption on your hotspot to see if that's the reason.

On my android it has extended compability.
Settings > network > hotpsot > wifi hotspot > extend compatibility.

I bought a stand-alone hotspot from T-Mobile because the river cruise ship we were on was an old one with no wifi -- it worked like a charm. Kind of cool.

Sounds like you don't have much options for wired internet. Though it looks like you have cellular signal at your location. Since you're already with Verizon you should try their cellular home service.

Or, you could try the T-Mobile home internet service. My nephew has it in rural MO and is pretty happy with it.

                            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                              ^^^^
Yeah, I did have a MiFi but the service is quite spotty. No point in paying for crappy service so I canceled the Mifi.

I still have satellite internet but it's really not very good and a 10GB plan doesn't last very long before the throttling begins. Can't game at all and I have a gaming monkey on my back ...
