I might have done a few Heretic levels, but mostly Doom2 and Duke3d... DCK Editor and BUILD Editor I think. I remember Warcraft 1 on modem. Kids would think Minecraft had a lot better graphics... that was real magic back then though. Boggled the brain to play against a human. AI sucked. Now it is dangerous.

Those of us that remember 300 baud AC modems knew there was no in-built error correction and crosstalk was a bitch.

Not me. I used Groupwise with company email synched with a bank of four or six USR external modems... and DOS Pegasus Mail with a Waffle server and one dial-up modem to grab email periodically and distribute it over Novell.

Yup, I would set up the computer to dial and connect. I would then go to the bathroom, change my clothes and get a glass of water.

If I was lucky it would be connected by the time I got back.
            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

I recall playing DOOM via modem with one other person for like 8 hours. That would not fly today. Boring AF. Back then it was freaking wizardry.
Yeah, well I couldn't even do that with my first computer.

I remember those... I had a TI-99/4a with cartridges and a TI-datasette for saving Basic programs. The computer controlled the cassette via analog wires IIRC.

110 baud via teletype machines. I remember I changed the grades of a schoolmate that I didn't like. It was caught and a lot of ***** went down.

Listen to that data load... similar to a modem.

I think I had a plain black user port 300 baud modem on a Commodore computer. Weird how I can picture how a ancient modem looked hahah - other stuffs not good at remembering.

                          Yep, found one on EBAY:

                          It worked on a C-128

The computers at both ends that can receive and process that much data is crazy too

so USA will get these kind of speeds in about 30 years. since all the internet companies here won't want to pay the money to upgrade their infrastructure to support these new tech until they are forced to by the government.

even though at the same time, they are asking for and accepting grant money the USA is giving them specifically for infrastructure upgrades.

god, the internet service needs to be turned into a public utility.
