    Recommend me a laptop

I am shopping for a new laptop for the wife for a Christmas gift. She does basic internet browsing/shopping/Cafeland/bill paying... She likes the widescreens. The last laptop she had/has is a Lenovo. The battery doesnt hold a charge anymore, hast to be plugged in all the time. Just getting old.

Looking for a recommendation that wont kill the bank, but not be trash either....

WAIT. Macbook Pro just got revamped and will be released in the next couple of weeks... That's what I've been holding out for to replace my current Macbook Pro. I've had many pc's in the past and the battery life goes to crap fast and the computer gets super sluggish (even with computer maintenance/defrag/disk cleanup/clearing caches/etc). All my mac's still perform well.

MacBook Pro. (Credit: Apple)  As more details leak about the new MacBook Pro expected at an Apple event on October 27, don't count on ample availability, an analyst says. "The supply is going to be tight on these initially," Rhoda Alexander, an analyst at IHS Markit Technology, told me in a phone conversation. [...]

IMHO Lenovo ThinkPad is the best PC laptop available. You can also get a new battery rather then an entire new system

Dell Latitudes 5000 series and up. Can be customized to be to future proof for her needs for ~$800.
I've also had good luck with my 13" non-convertible XPS. Convertibles have had network issues.

Had an 11" Macbook Air. Great battery life. Crap resolution.
Went full circle back to PCs.

Been buying a lot of company laptops I always fall back to Dells.

When someone starts a thread with "Recommend me..." Then I point them to a MAC... That is about all that they need... Macs are for simple people, unlike PCs where people that have them need to know where the files are and how to do basic things like look at all of the processes running and well, just more technical people I guess... MACs seem to be more for the people that just float around in life and listen to their music while they relax.

I think OP should get a MAC. It seems to suit them and I think it will be a welcome change since they are perfect in every way, can not get viruses, and the mouse ONLY needs one button.

I don't just recommend it, I MAC IT!
7 Billion people on the planet. They aint ALL gonna astronauts. Some will get hit by trains...

Need GOOD SS pins to clean your brass? Try the new and improved model...

And remember- 99.9% of the lawyers ruin it for the other .1%...

i am hoping to have missed this sarcasm on this one if not its wrong in so many ways.

if the mac software was so great they would let others install it on other computers. if you really wanted to you can install it on other systems if you dont mind breaking the eua.

You may want to rethink Lenovo. They make good computers but they are owned by the Chinese military. The DoD just issued a warning due to backdoors built into the hardware.

Previously I had a Toshiba 15" laptop that lasted 10 years before it finally died.

I replaced that with another Toshiba in the 17" form. It had a motherboard issue within the first year. Sent it in for repairs 3 years ago and it's been going strong ever since.
It's tough being a tall guy in a world built for average people.
