I watch mr.steels vid regularly but his viewpoint to getting into fpv isn't realistic as he is a sponsored pro and came into the hobby as a sponsored pro. he is suggesting top of the line products for people who will never race.
I bought my kid this setup last xmas:

Pair it up with a 46 buck radio and you have a great flyer that you will not outgrow.
I agree that Uav futures has some great vids on getting into the hobby cheap. The only thing I really splurged on was fpv goggles. just picked up a pair of fat shark dominator 3s and used them last weekend to watch some races. quite the rush vs just sitting and trying to follow drones going by at 65+ MPH

for that price build your own that can fly outside. the brushless indoor racers look small and cute until you destroy a tv or chop up you hand. I learned the hard way with 26 stiches to my left hand.

And we all know , being behind enemy lines in Cali , just how Sac really likes the way the Feds do things .

Which Dem is going to propose some new state laws for drones now here in our freedom loving state.( like a roster of unsafe drones , they have to pass a drop test ) If the feds can't do it maybe Sac will .

Just wait , they will find a way .

While I was outside watching a movie on my home theater I heard a familiar buzzing sound. Sure enough, there was a quadcopter hovering about 50 feet above me. I have an 8 X 5 foot screen with a 3000 lumen LCD projector. I also have a fire pit that was putting up a lot of smoke while I added more wood.

Anyway, the quadcopter stuck around for about 30 seconds then took off. Next weekend I'll have one of my cheap quads ready just in case it comes back.

Costco.com has the mavic now. I guess you get prop guards and the DJI travel bag as the Costco bonus. I was hoping for free DJI refresh.

The bag kind of sucks if I'm being honest.

I got the "Fly More" kit with the extra batteries and the bag and extra props. The bag is a little bit too tight in my opinion.

I had it out this weekend flying up in the Lake Tahoe area and got some good footage. If I was going to complain about anything with the Mavic it is that even though you can have multiple batteries to fly longer, the battery in the controller dies pretty fast as well, so without another controller you are still going to have downtime for charging.

Can you use and charge the controller at the same time?

Not that I am aware, it uses the same port to charge as it does to connect to your phone. There is a second USB port you can use if you wanted to use a tablet instead of a phone, but when you plug into the main port, the secondary port stops working.

buy a tiny whoop. get some goggles. cheap way to learn FPV flight. I love Whooping it up! it's my go to drone when I just wanna fly. wether it's in the house or in the yard. I still have a 220 race drone I fly FPV but I keep that for outings with my buddy who also flies.
