Ok. New to drones. Long story short I ended up with a Syma X8G without paying for it.
Anyone have any info on these?

Don't buy a Propel TILT from Bed Bath and Beyond if you ever want parts...
I got one as a gift, the propeller spun off on a landing, and backed off the set-screw and it dropped in an undisclosed location.
4x spare propellers, but the set screw cannot be found, and the spare propellers didn't come with spare set-screws.

They drop the model before Christmas season, and even a month later they don't even have the model listed on their site...

After playing with sub-$20 mini-drones on eBay, and seeing the options available, it seems that a comparable model I mentioned above can be had at <$100.

Anyone buy eBay pre-fab drones with ~2MP++ cameras and have good luck?
          Sub-$150 models worth a crap?

I have a little cheapo Syma X5C-1 Upgraded and it has been a great little starter drone. Now that I dropped 50 bucks on a cheapo and have crashed it a number of times successfully (meaning without breaking it completely) and want to get something nice. I am terrified on doing a big boy because I know the breakage factor goes way up when flying at a distance. I am going to sell off a couple guns to fund my next one and it may be a heck of a purchase for me. I'm thinking either GoPro Karma or Mavic Pro.

I have been flying my Syma X5C with a FPV kit like this one. http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-8G-8CH-4-3...gAAOSwmmxW4C7d

I also have a Phantom 3 Advanced, but it is really a higher end consumer video platform and not a recreational flyer. I was thinking about getting a 250 class FPV racer, but haven't decided on a platform or a FPV system.

I bought the Phantom 3 Advanced when they were over $1,000. Now you can pick them up for close to $500. I still enjoy flying the Syma indoors. Doesn't handle that well outdoors in the wind. Phantom 3 has no problem with moderate wind.

Okay guys, I understand this company is in some ways dying, but just recently this entire setup with a GoPro would have been around $1,800. We're talking months not years or anything like that either. It's a top-notch high-end drone on a super super budget. The only thing you'll have to buy is a GoPro Hero 3 or 4 to install into the gimbal. Just recently these Gimbels by themselves we're going for $400 but the company is now liquidating do to them gearing themselves toward commercial grade drones made for specific tasks like going over Farms surveillance and otherwise. Here's a link to an entire set up to purchase it for $317 after tax I hope you guys enjoy it as much as I think I'm going to.

The 3DR Solos are not bad drones. At this price it's a great buy. I'd do it.

Seriously, they are now selling the exact same platform for Aviation, and surveillance but they're marketing it at $10,000 with a really high end Sony RT 10 camera

I've been looking for a Mavic Pro too...

Watching the inventory trackers for the Fly More kit is kinda making me so I may just buy the base and accessories separate and pay more.

So I just went all in on a 3DR Solo and called it a day. $300 bucks and I get a SWEET drone and controller combo. I was able to get it all said and done with an extra battery, backpack, and kit for $358 all said and done to my door. I am spending $200 on a GoPro Hero4 Silver as we speak and even if I don't like the Solo I can probably sell it off for as much or more than I paid for it, and get to keep the GoPro for other fun activities. I'm DEFINITELY using it for Autocross this coming season, and am going to be using it a bunch for aerial photo/video for different things I'm putting together.

If you are looking for a very advanced drone, but knowing that the support won't be there later, the Solo is a great one to go with right now. It is almost completely modular, all the parts can be changed out, gps unit and computer units are replaceable, and it's a geeks perfect setup. 55mph capability, and 10 meters per second vertical climbing rate!!!!! CRAZY FAST little drone setup. My only recommendation is buy as many batteries and gimbals as you can NOW. Those are what are going to be costing money later on down the road.

BTW, I took my Syma X5c-1 back......

I've been flying a Rezo mini indoors during the rainy season....hilarious....best $32 ever spent.....the only thing that messes up this indestructable mini is a tumble through a pile of dog hair in a corner......
I've had my P3 since Xmas and haven't been over 300ft yet.....but what a fun toy.....some spectacular pictures........only one wreck, into a fence while drinking.....got one of those backpacks and take it on mt bike trips, very well built, very snug with the grippy rubber backing and the two harness straps.....
Useful too. I documented a neighbor doing illegal dumping (truckloads) and got results from the county, very happy. Also the gangbangers run like hell upon launch......

+1 on the Mavic Pro. I've been traveling with mine quite a bit. It's a great little machine for when my Inspire is just too big for the job. I'd highly recommend one. I even had my friend fly it with good results, and he has zero UAV or RC experience.

Yeah, I ended up getting the Mavic Pro back in March and had turned off "beginner mode" after the first 20 minute flight.

This thing is very easy to fly as long as you aren't an idiot and can think about things like left/right becomes right/left when you are flying towards yourself.
