Anyone got TWO beeps on turning computer on with certain RAM?

I forgot what RAM I had, but I bought 2GB more (since it was $15 shipped) so now I got 6GB in the game system which should carry me into my i7 or ZEN when I make that move, but After I added these two DOMINATOR sticks, which BTW, match the same specs in voltage and timing as my RAM I already have, I notice now upon the post beep, it gives me TWO beeps. Anyone else run Dominator ram and get that too?

No errors no nothing, just TWO beeps right after another. Then it goes into the Windows selection screen if it finds the SSHD...

I don't believe that is the case. I will check tomorrow when I fire it up to play some more some ED again...

Check the motherboard manual for beep codes?

I don't think I have ever had a beeping issue with a mismatch in sizes, or speeds.

Only bad RAM, non-fully-seated RAM, or non-compatible-w/MB RAM (AKA: PARITY/ECC in a non-supportive board, or VIA-chipset-ONLY RAM in a non-supportive board, I recall seeing in stores in SD county, back in the single-core days).

When I bought my last motherboard I maxed out the RAM from day one. I seldom need 64gb but it's nice to have regardless.

I second checking the board's beep codes, I haven't encountered that.

Dumb (obvious) question, you checked they were fully seated, yeah? Tried it with just the old, then just the new? One stick at a time?

Check the motherboard manual, it will tell you what that is. Most likely it detected hardware change and wants you to confirm/save the change.

depends on your BIOS. This might help

As others have said, check the motherboard manual for beep codes. Verify RAM installed an operating at the same speed in your BIOS or a utility such as CPU-z. This will be the simplest way of finding out whats going on based on the detected hardware.

If I remember correctly, installing dissimilar sized RAM DIMMs will usually force the RAM to run in single channel instead of dual or triple channel; and will try to match the cas latencies. My guess is the BIOS is giving you a simple warning that some sort of compromise is being made to pass the POST.

I went into the BIOS, everything shows up normal. OS sees 6GB of RAM (6144 I think BIOS reported).

The beeps do NOT sound associated. Not like a normal beep beep. It is as though there are two different posts going on and they complete right after another.

I Put it into integrated memory test and it removed one beep.

I took it out of that and then saw that there is a message that states bank interweave requested but not enabled. So I put the OC into manual mode (cause it was in auto) and saw memory interweave. heh- you can choose auto or disabled. SO I chose to leave it alone, but then upon reboot I have no screen or post...

Dammit. I was just getting a feel for ED too...

I will clear the BIOS when I get back from lunch. Start over I guess... :\

Boot the computer using the verbose boot mode. Then watch the monitor to see what the problem is.

                          So...

Did you check the manual for the beep codes yet? That's kind of step 1 when troubleshooting a motherboard that beeps any differently than normal, and you haven't indicated you've done that yet.

                            P. 49 shows:
AMI BIOS number of beeps: 2 = AMIBOOT.ROM file not found in root directory of diskette in A:

POST code does NOT list 2 beeps. It lists 1 or 3 where 1 is Memory refresh timer error and 3 is base memory read/write test error.

I cleared the CMOS and restarted, rese some things in the BIOS on what to boot etc and same two beeps.

I am running 4GB gskill RAM gold with the same identical timings and voltage as the 2GB Dominators. I believe the problem is the BANK INTERLEAVE. I think it wants me to interweave the RAM, but I gotta look up on how to do that.

Parity circuit error. Your RAM is your problem. Take out the old stuff and see if the error code persists.
