My comp is like 5 years old except for gpus...I built it for college. Don't use it much since I travel for work a lot. Surfing this forum with my phone....

    PC weighs about 75#s...
800D with dual row xspc 360 radiator custom loop
I7 Sandy bridge on water OC to 4.8
    16Gb ram
gtx780 with full coverage water blocks
2x128gb ssd...have a 10terabyte Qnap nas that stores everything. One runs windows and the other runs Ubuntu. The nas handles all transcoding, downloading, htpc, media serving and streaming functions.
    Sound: benchmark dac1
    Realforce 87u keyboard.

Draws only 150 to 300ish watts when I'm not abusing it with prime 95 or benchmarks. Linux runs on a lot less power.

3Ghz Pentium 4, with 2GB of ram and 17in LCD monitor. It has Hyperthreading Technology. I use it mainly for the printer (on the left).

Nothing super special here. Middle of the road i5 Haswell chip on a Gigabyte micro ATX board, B85 chipset. Powered with a Corsair CS-550M, semi-modular. EVGA SSC 2.0 GTX 960 graphics. 2x4GB g.Skill DDR3 and a Seagate 1TB. Cheap case, stock cooling. Went low budget cause I'm not made of money. It plays modern games at 60 fps, 1080p, medium to high settings (leaning towards the latter on most of the games I'm playing, especially if I settle for only 2x MSAA or FXAA.) More than enough for me.

Honestly, only real upgrades I'd want right now are:
            • SSD
            • More storage for the heck of it / backing up data
            • Quieter PSU and cooling
            • Better GPU just to max everything, though I don't plan on it any time soon

Everything else I want would just be peripherals. I need a new fight stick for Street Fighter 5. Always wanting more flight sim / racing stuff. I kinda want a mechanical keyboard. And my friend is always raving about his G-SYNC monitor.

Mechanical keyboard is a must, you'll never switch back once you do. There are many types of switches to choose from which is the best part cause you just want to try them all.

G-SYNC monitor, not much to rave about unless you play a lot of FPS games. If you have the extra money and decide you want one, get the one with an IPS panel.

I built an HTPC a while ago in an HEC micro atx case that's really really quiet with a Noctua NH-L9A quiet cpu cooler and case fan. It has a floppy drive hole still that I put one of those 20 in one SD card readers in and a blue ray player. Been very functional, kicked the Blueray player out of the TV stand, and for HTPC use the AMD quad core FX processor has been pretty good. A lot of people can't believe it's a fully functional and capable PC.

My $800 build (including all peripherals). Absolutely pleased with everything thus far. Haven't even touched the 4690k yet, and I stuck with the 750 Ti (for $75) because I'm not much of a AAA gamer. 4k is unnecessary but I plan on moving up to a 144hz monitor at some point down the road here.

Source and Indie games are about all I'm on these days.
