Here are a couple of my older ones. I took the easy way out this last time and currently have a Alienware SLI rig.

Wish I could show a snapshot of the Task Manager...

            Windows 7
            2x Xeon E5-2600 @ 2.70Ghz; hyperthreading enabled = 24 cores
            128 GB RAM
6 250 GB disks in a hardware RAID

I have an Asus 24" and 2 Dell 19" monitors on my corner desk. Its getting close to needing up upgrade the graphics card again. I'm waiting for the polaris cards from AMD on their 12nm (or is it 14?) process.

3 monitors is a bit much truthfully, but one of them was free and I have one pulling double duty as a second monitor to my laptop.

Much needed GPU upgrade , Nvidia is coming out with their 1080 cards soon, unless you want AMD.

Its a tough call; I've only ever used AMD because of performance per dollar. As I understand it, their current flagships are blast furnaces, and sheer performance crown is with nvidia right now. I'll probably do what I've done in the past, wait until all the brand new stuff is released, and wait for last years stuff to get deep price cuts, and go with second tier.

I'm looking to build my first PC sometime this Summer. I would like to consider AMD's new processors but I don't want to wait until the end of the year.

I decided it's best to wait for AMD & NVIDIA to release their new, shiny GPU's, though. My budget is $300-350 so the new GTX 1070 seems nice! I wanted to go with a flavor of the AMD r9 390x. Also recently decided to go with a 'mini-atx' platform instead of a regular ATX/Mid-tower case. I wanted to save a little bit of desk space:

                    I'm looking forward to it!

The only criticism I would have on your build would be to ditch the wireless if you can. It'll save $40 for other parts. Do you not have a monitor or keyboard to use currently?

If you're running a mini-atx I highly recommend you get Liquid CPU cooler instead. Radeon runs HOT and you'll want extra fans. And you want to make sure your GPU fits your case. PC Partpicker will not tell you that.

Where I'm at now, I can't run a Ethernet cable from the modem(downstairs) to this room(upstairs). I am interested in "powerline" kits but I apparently for it to work best the outlets have to be on the same breaker?

No, sir. I haven't owned a desktop since Packard Bell was around Hadn't had the room for one. I don't even currently have a desk but I plan on making a basic design out of pine. I do have a corded Logitech mouse when I would game on this laptop. I figured I would put some money into peripherals since I'm going to spend quite a bit of time typing & staring at them. I really like the look of a 27" monitor. CoolerMaster HQ is a few miles from where I live so I feel I have to get something from them too

Ah. I thought about it because it would be awesome to try but I don't think I want to invest anymore money into this build. The case I want isn't the tiniest thing around and seems like it gets pretty good airflow. Comes with a 200mm fan in front & a 140mm in the rear with options for two more up top.

Edit: Oh, you're talking about the Radeon CPU? I was going to get an FX 6300 but I changed my mind & would be going with an Intel. I'll consider AMD's brand new ones the next time I would upgrade.

Someone mentioned that a reference ("foundation" for the upcoming Nvidia) card with a blower cooler would be better in a smaller case then a design from the partners? Even though those tend to have more fans on them.

If you're looking for the very smallest case, you might want to look around for a "lan box" or even a home theater PC case. They're designed to be small enough to carry around to lan parties, but still hold and cool components.

Not sure how handy you are, but if you're building your own desk, you could make a wood box to house a all the components; save a bit more without a case. You'd also saving on space the case would take up. Your only consideration would be air flow for cooling and noise which isn't that difficult.

One other thing I noticed, is with that parts picker, it doesn't factor in shipping or customer service of each retailer. Make the same exact build on newegg or amazon and compare prices considering they both have free shipping and superb return policies if something is damaged in transit.

I decided against going with the smaller mATX cases or mITX for this build since it's my first & I want it to be relatively easy to build out of. Also decided to go with a more attractive(to me) design as opposed to the super plain jane Fractal Design-"Define S" I originally wanted. Plus I didn't realize how big mid-towers can be until I went to Micro Center a few weeks ago.
Ahh, damn. I forgot about them not adding tax & shipping. Thanks for the tip! Other than price alerts, I like that that site can organize your build plans, has user reviews and gives you the estimated wattage on everything.
