those predators (x34's) are not 4k. They are 3440x1440p...

4k monitors past 60hz don't exist to the public yet.

The new 27" and 32" 4k ( Predators are 60hz but have Gsync.

To be honest my man... I feel pretty much the same as you. I'm not getting rid of it, but it needs a bit more time for some stuff to come out for it. If you pick one up you need to get Elite Dangerous, and Project Cars-- both are great.

REGARDING 60HZ vs 144HZ

my xb271hk came in yesterday... I set it up and it's amazing. At first I said " I can't deal with 60hz" but as soon as I activated "GAME MODE" and gsync it looked about 90% as smooth as 1440p/144hz.

I agree though you can't beat 144hz but the 4k visuals look sick at 60hz and gsync irons it out.

Off topic: I have a large corner desk and a large shelf-area that I don't really use, would I be insane to mount components inside the wood box area?

Rumor has it, AMD accidentally leaked a more powerful card, the 490. I would assume they'll release it for the holiday shopping season.

This should drop prices of the 1080, and will likely see the aftermarket tuner 480s for $200ish

I stopped by Frys and everything was cleared out. I wandered for a bit and found a 480 randomly, but it came out to 280 after tax... I contemplated, but meeeh not worth it at that price for me.

I'm going to be stuck with the bill for a dental implant + crown in another month so my sweet build has been pushed back At least by the time I finally buy a gpu, the dust should settle for all these new releases. Curious how the 1060 does & awaiting reviews on 3rd party 480's. I'm hoping they do 1440p a little better than a reference 480.

I'd have to look up benchmarks but in the past, it hasn't really been worth it for me if you have a flagship card.
