    Mouse keeps freezing at random

I've looked up causes for this happening and I'm at my whit's end. Things I've done to try and remedy the situation are as follows.

    1. Uninstalled and re-installed drivers.
    2. Tried new mouse.
    3. Fresh install of operating system.

As far as I can see the only things I have't tried are a new case and motherboard, any computer wizards with a idea for me?

    Thanks Jim

    Computer AIDS.

Does sound like there might be a port conflict somewhere, though.

I knew it, computer zombies are starting. Where's the head if I need to shoot it?

Corded and cordless do the same exact thing and I tried the cordless second.

I had that issue when I installed Windows 10.
But it went away after a couple of reboots and a reinstall of the mouse drivers.

            It almost drove me "whitless".

This is what I was thinking too based off the described actions. Op do you have a second mouse lying around to test out?

My first thought was a hair or a speck of something on the mouse sensor. I've got two cats, and I have to constantly blow off the laser sensor. If a hair gets lodged on there in just the right (or wrong, it's POV-dependent) place, then your mouse can start acting like there's some interference issues or even like it's dead.

                  Define freezing please.

Like when moving it around it pauses and then catches up?

Typically that is due to the cpu or HD activity that makes all attention get diverted momentarily from what I have seen.

How do your movies play back? Get a program called KMplayer and play a movie with it and see if it studders also. If it does, it is a program or service that is most likely eating into your resources (RAM/CPU).

One computer did that REALLY bad when I was loading it down with 20+ torrents downloading. As time went on it got worse, so I would have to reboot and NOT run any torretns to have better performance.

That is MY guess and that is where I would start.

Try giving him some whiskey to act as antifreeze. They used to do that to elephants to keep them from freezing. Maybe it will work for a mouse.

Try running Linux mint from a cd. If mouse is OK, it's windows and not your hardware.

I know this may sound silly, however, may you try different ports on the computer? It could be something as minor as a bad USB port.

Tried it on two different USB ports and two different OS's Windows 10 and & 7 Ultimate.

Two different ports rights next to each other, or far apart? Ports adjacent to each other are typically driven by the same controller (or internal hub).

Two other sites that have possible solutions are:

Hello, after a new re-install and registration of Windows 7, my mouse has begun to stutter. The wireless mouse itself has no issues and has been tried in other computers (it may be worth noting that this is a home-built PC), and other mice(mouses in this sense?) are plagued by the same issue. I...

I'd put a bit more credence to the first link, IMO, since I had similar issues several years ago, that were also somehow related to the boot configuration. I don't remember what came of it, since I have long since sold that machine.
