+1 for Liberty over Canon. Only 10% of the low - mid range Canons are made in the US. The rest are imported from China and Mexico. Comparable Liberty models are all made in the US.

Both the Rhino and Bighorn safes have 11G steel, the older larger Bighorn safes had 10G steel and you only get 10G steel with the higher line Rhino safes. The cheaper Bighorns may have 12G steel but you are not comparing apples to apples.Comment

No safe in that price range will trouble a real burglar for more than 30 minutes tops. Bolting it down, and keeping it hidden are far more important than ".25 more inches of steel".
Most people bolt their safe in their bedroom, inside the closet. Keep your safe somewhere that isn't obvious, then bolt it down. The Second Amendment ex-tends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding. - The United States Supreme CourtComment

I've got that safe through tractor supply, very happy with it's form and capacity. Is it ft knox? No. It's a hell of a lot more secure than my closet and the gun lockers though and with proper placement it'll give a thief a headache to get into. Give someone enough time and nothing is impregnable though, and in reality you'll most likely be faced with a smash and grabber. The chances of dealing with a thief that's going to take the time to bust in is low.Comment

Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison
The Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to prevent the people of the United States, who are peaceable citizens, from keeping their own arms. -- Samuel Adams, Debates and Proceedings in the Convention of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, 86-87 (Pearce and Hale, eds., Boston, 1850)Comment

I was pointing out the misleading specs on lower end safes with a composite door. They never tell you how much steel is in it. Usually it's not much. Better to get a safe with a plate steel door 1/4" or thicker.Oppressors can tyrannize only when they achieve a standing army, an enslaved press, and a disarmed populace. -- James Madison

Exactly and for those who choose ignore suggestions on what lock to get . I believe most electronic locks will give a warning before becoming completly unserviceable.
I know mine allowed me to change the combination when one number started to cause problems.
I would advise calling a locksmith while you can still get the safe open .

Mine is a Cannon but... I paid a lot more for a lot less safe...

It's interesting when you consider that a REAL...not a Residential Security Container which is what most of these things are...but a real top of the line safe from, say, Graffunder, Brown, AmSec, is only rated to stop a somewhat knowledgeable thief with tools, for 30 minutes (TL-30 rated safes). These are safes weighing thousands of pounds and costing $5K-$10K or more.
RSC's have their place. They will keep the kids out and the quick hit burglars. But you should have no illusions about how much real security they will provide. The videos are out there showing a couple guys with no experience and a couple of pry bars breaking into a cheap RSC in a minute or two.
Make sure you understand what you are really buying. And don't forego firearms insurance because you think you are better protected than you really are. Remember the best safes out there only buy 30 minutes if you come up against an experienced thief."Kestryll I wanna lick your doughnut."

Gotcha, I agree, the thicker the better. A removable door is a plus too.It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.
