I enjoy firearms for the same reason I collect wristwatches - I admire the fine craftmanship.

FREEDOM.........
Simply Freedom......... And the fact that our founding fathers says we shalL and we all should.
Even though our Goverment and our current king continues to dilute our constitution some of us will fight for what is right in many ways.sigpicComment

Many reasons. A few below, not necessarily in order:
Protection/defense of self, family, loved ones and property
Art form and precision
Expression of freedom/right
Showing responsibility
The challenge of shooting - long distance, tight groups, fast, etc.
Appreciation for history
The rush it gives me when I press the trigger and a controlled explosion follows
Curiosity of how guns work
The evolution of guns
Pushing things to the limits
Continuous improvement
Spending quality time with myself
Being in the zone when I am at the range and nothing else matters
Pursuit of fine, mechanical pieces

i appreciate fine craftsmanship, im also amazed by the complexity yet simple designs of these wonderful machinery just like a swiss watch. although some may argue there's high risk with owning firearms im glad our forefathers had the insight to the see the importance of including it in our bill of rights. we do live in one of the most strict states but we still have a lot more freedom that many places in the world and i dont want to take that for granted.Comment

Well, firearm ownership for me isn't so much about what I like about them but what they do. They are a means of defense for me. But I must say, that in researching which guns to own and why, over the years I have become interested in the engineering and physics of a gun. Fascinating stuff.Comment

I've always been into mechanical/technical things, even as a kid I needed to know what makes a lawnmower engine work. I build (performance) engines and custom cars for a living, guns are just another mechanical/technical thing that fascinates me. Being able to take a small piece of metal and have it hit where you want hundreds of yards away (or tens of yards with a handgun) just fascinates me. Plus the precision of a fire arms mechanics. on top of that the relaxing aspect of shooting, clearing your mind and concentrating on you next shot, trying to make it better than the last one. Just one of the aspects of of guns that I like, some others have been mentioned in previous posts.Comment

Guess I have a slightly different answer than most. NYE 2010, I fell off a balcony and paralyzed my left arm. I was fortunate in that there was no nerve damage, so I had a chance of recovery. About a year later, I got about 99% of function back in my arm. I use firearms to measure how stable I can keep my hands (I shake quite a bit now). Plus it's a fun hobby. People often ask why not archery instead, but that is because I like modern stuff as opposed to old junk.WTS HK USP45c http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1304283Comment

These are nice scopes - ProStaff that is; not the Prostate.
