Buying ammo online...concerns?

So if you claim the ammo never arrived and you didn't give a signature? How do they know of you are lying or not?

Seems foolish for them to do this but I have had fed ex leave a box with a Monte Blanc pen just laying in my front yard!

Ammoman.com has shipped everything to me in plain brown cardboard boxes. I don't recall if 'Ammoman' appears on the shipping label.

My order from them came in the Federal xm193 box marked ammo on every side. I was not too thrilled with that, but otherwise good deal.

These guys deliver all sorts of valuable computers and electronics all day long. They also usually get at least a cursory look at your place. If they were casing possible robbery / home invasion spots, the armed individual who buys ammo in bulk would probably go to the bottom of the list. If criminals want to rob someone, they want an easy mark. If they want to rob guns, they'll hit Turners

Those UPS drivers make a ton of money too, doubt it would be worth their time to rob your house.

Yea, that's the sucky part. The only places that are really on the outskirts is wild sports and sportsmans warehouse and their both lacking. Wild sports you have to be 21 to purchase rifle ammo and sportsmans warehouse doesn't have a wide selection of .223/5.56.

Rancho Cordova Guns on Zinfandel by Sunrise is another and Big 5 is another. There's also many other places you can go if you use a little Google or look in the phone book.

Same here...I got 1000 rds of golden tiger yesterday..they blacked out everything about ammo on the box and the ORM stamp was there..but it was very faint..it also doesn't say ammoman as the sender..it says direct distrubutors or something...like somebody else said...once you buy online..you never go back to the store or shows...

I've shipped many surplus tins of 7.62x54r ammo, modern 9mm, .22lr, and gobs of gun parts and accessories and they've ALL come discretely shipped...and I work at a very liberal oriented, anti-gun law firm. Better than my house..where it'd probably get stolen if left on the porch for more than 5 minutes.

UPS has specific instructions from me to never leave a package on the doorstep. If nobody answers they don't leave it.

Kinda funny… I see a lot of you guys complaining about UPS leaving stuff on your door step, I’m actually the exact opposite. When the UPS guy is doing his route I’m at work, and when the hub is open I’m at work. Our old UPS guy would REFUSE to leave any package at the door, I called UPS so many times complaining about this and they basically said tuff luck. Finally got a hold of the driver him self and he said that’s his personal policy and he wasn’t gonna change it regardless of what I say. Even when we were home he’d leave before we had time to answer the door. Our new guy is cool though, he’ll leave stuff behind the plants or what not.

To OP: HERE'S YOUR ANSWER: I, too, live in Sacramento. Many companies won't ship ammo (& other "things") here. BUT......They WILL ship to West Sacramento. And guess what's in W.S.???? UPS!!!!!!! Here's all you do: when you find ammo at the right price (I like AmmoMan - no shipping $$ - & J&G/CDNN/BUYAMMO.com, etc., etc.,) give your shipping address as - *your name c/o UPS WillCall*(1st line) ; *your phone number*(2nd line) ; 1380 Shore Street ; West Sacramento, Ca. 95691. You will receive a phone call from the UPS guys when it arrives (usually your phone will ring between 7:45-9:00 a.m. / you can go pick up anytime after 10 a.m.) Works like a charm. Has for me for years.

I like ordering ammo online. The UPS guy is always annoyed after having to carry it up the stairs to my apartment.

At least they have to work for their $25 per case...

My problem is with the blabbermouth UPS guy
"Yeah I just delivered 25 lbs of powder to the guy on XYZ street"

I actually had a driver tell me that as he was delivering my ammo. Now I worry about who he's telling about what deliveries I have received...

Only problem I have had was ordering 1000rds and getting 998rds in the ammo can.
