They do want to break into homes that contain guns though if they are pretty sure no ones home. Guns are a very hot item to steal as well as drugs,prescription and others.

The bottom line is that if you are going to get rob, you will get robbed, no matter what you do to try to prevent it. It is just like when people die, you never know for certain when you are going to die, it just happens no matter what you do.

To the OP, I have purchased lots of ammo online for the past 12 years in different states and have never had a single problem. You are just being a lil too paranoid.

Just don't put the boxes in your trash/recycling at home--too easy to go through your trash, see ammo boxes, and deduce that there are guns inside that would be very worthwhile to steal. Same goes with expensive electronics boxes.

I get my best ammo prices from Cheaper Than Dirt and The Sportsman's Guide. Once your get on their mailing list you'll get coupons too. My UPS guy is a reservist, in fact he just got back from a 4 month tour. I have never met the FedEx driver but its a good idea to get to know your regular delivery people.

My old UPS driver would get a bit ticked off when I received certain orders. Like when I got 2000 50BMG AP bullets ship from Pat's along with "a little bit" of powder. When boxes are heavy or marked as hazmat, certain drivers will complain. Even my USPS carrier has asked about heavy boxes a few times. Once, I showed her the +400 .510 dia custom turned solids that came to me via a flatrate box. It had set a weight record at the PO it was shipped from. As for cases of ammo being sent to me, I've never had a problem with any delivery or any person handling the shipments. I received a few orders ranging from assorted ammo packed in a larger cardboard box from places like midway to, 5 marked wooden cases at a time delivered to my front gate.

Those custom machined brass solids buck the wind like no other projectile, but F**K are they x-pensive!!!!!!!!!!!!

BTW, I've been hearing stories coming in that more than a few "problems" are starting to (slowly, but surely) rear their ugly heads in regards to the .510 DTC - chambered rifles now. (I'm assuming you were using these solids for those cartridges). Any input, CSA? *No, I don't know the "specifics," as the several times I was told this from local FFL's, it was pretty much put to me the same as above, verbatim.

I don't know anything about problems with .510 DTC other than problems with some uppers from a certain manufacturer being out of spec and/or improperly heat treated and unsafe to shoot. If you find out anything more, please let me know.

I bought the solids mentioned earlier from a friend (Lee R.) who turns his own. These designs did not live up to his hopes and were sold to me as +1 moa plinking round only. I wanted them for shooting 600 yard steel at Angeles NOT for match use.

You're more likely to cause the UPS guy to herniate himself than bring a B & E on yourself.

My guy brings me PMC .45 by the case often enough that he always asks to see the "Tommy Gun" I must have to need this much ammo. I've laughed and shown him the Glock 30 I carry, but he remains unconvinced.

Just remember to tip your guy at Christmas. A little mean green goes a long way to make friends.

I seem a little bit worried ordering ammo online. The reason being is the person delivering it. What if the guy is a past burglar or what if he brags to his friends how he delivered a lot of ammo to a guys house. Should I be concerned about this?

Ammoman.com has shipped everything to me in plain brown cardboard boxes. I don't recall if 'Ammoman' appears on the shipping label.

i have never had a problem. i ordered a case of .223 from aimsurplus and they just left the box by my door. same thing happened when i received my gun from remington back from repairs they just left it by my door just waiting to get stolen. gotta love ups. also when i get my ammo there are no markings on the box that would lead one to believe there is ammo in there.

i buy ammo online all the time without issue, the thing i dislike though is when i'm not home and they leave it out in front of my house for everyone to see, i had to make a stink with the corporate office of a shipper to make note that they need to leave the stuff in a closed in area 10 ft from the front door so that nobody could just walk up and take the stuff, i mean its only a few feet to the side there is almost no effort and nobody can see whats there.

Normally I despise UPS, but my local UPS driver was an exception.

I wasn't home for pickup so he held my package, left an "adult signature only" notice at my door. Returned the next day, apologized, and said he didn't want to just leave it lying on the porch.

I have had the last half-dozen "adult signature required" (ammo and others) packages just left on my doorstep and NO followup for a signature from UPS. While they may deliver packages OK, their security sucks. (at least here)
