I didn't bother engraving my first 80. The next 4 will be though. I have an idea in my head for a set of rifles that will complete my collection. I have the lowers. Now I just need the money for engraving.

So the question I have is whether the circle engraving is exactly where the hole is required to make the thing automatic fire. Clever if it is, but then you may anger the gun gods by making such a marking on the lower receiver...Comment

So when you get arrested, you get to prove to the cop, prosecutor, judge, and maybe a jury that it's faked. Then after it's all over, maybe get sued by Colt.
Yup, it is.Comment

Isn't it the other way around, as to proof, I don't doubt the arrest part, but that simply satisfies Probable Cause, soon as any competent attorney talks to the DA about reality of what the gun really is, only the most stupid of DAs would move forward, then I'd go and get a factually innocent ruling, then I'd have my own little 'don't get arrested for this again card'
As to copyright, doubt colt would care about personal use of a trademark, ppl do it all the timeComment

Have you ever try there

Colt would certainly care if something marked Colt ended up in the news and turned out it wasn't made by them.
Highpower, What's on the other side? That should help resolve the copyright issue.Comment

What's for them to prove? It says right there "Colt AR-15". They show that to 12 of your peers along with the banned firearm list, and it's a quick verdict. YOU are going to have to prove it's a fake.Isn't it the other way around, as to proof, I don't doubt the arrest part, but that simply satisfies Probable Cause, soon as any competent attorney talks to the DA about reality of what the gun really is, only the most stupid of DAs would move forward, then I'd go and get a factually innocent ruling, then I'd have my own little 'don't get arrested for this again card'

Or you could engrave it "JimBob Gun Works" and not have to pay a lawyer.Comment

Or, jesus, how is this even still a question? Nobody's arguing that it's a good idea to do that in California. The guy that did it DOESN'T LIVE HERE.NRA Life Member

As if it would be 'that' hard to prove
You think ppl are that stupid
Now I'm thinking of doing it just to go show it to the DAComment
