Have to engrave it if you ever want to sell it. Other than that, no legal requirement to, but a lot of people engrave them just in case of LEO interaction, many LEOs freak out if they come across a gun with no serial #. So would it be worth it to you to go through the hassle of trying to reclaim your seized 80% AR if an overzealous LEO took it? I didn't engrave either of my current ones. I did however, stamp the date of manufacture (different dates for each) up under the trigger area to serve as identifying marks (if stolen). While not proof that it is the actual manufacturing date combined with pictures and posts here will corroborate in case additional infringing legislation is passed.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.Comment

i say engrave myself. gov still has no idea you made it and can be recovered if stolen .........
banned by name would be my 2 concern or in your case no concern other that you violated Colts copyrights , engraved "spotting" for the happy hole would be my #1 worry , ATF has said in the past a "spotted" hole is a hole in their eyes and why spotted hammer and trigger holes are nono on 80%, see the KT Ord bust of many moons ago on that ruling and the plastic lowers that got pulled a while back for spotted holes and FCG ....Last edited by Jeepers; 12-27-2014, 9:23 PM.Originally posted by Ronald ReaganComment
