Do you really need a RO to write a letter for you if applying for a CCW? I was hoping that some sort of proof of membership, like a receipt or membership card, would be enough.

I already have my 2 reference letters ready. Just need a membership at a range to prove that I shoot often.

I think Northridge was first, then we started, then your range started and finished before they came back to finish HB.

The target distance stayed the same but the bottom of the rubber comes out much further on the floor than the old lead trap did. This backstop made it much cleaner. Bullets do not get flattened in the rubber. They come out whole with rifling. Other than some .357, most still have the jackets fully intact. They still go to the recycler but with the jackets rather than crushed lead, it's much safer for those doing maintenance also.
I actually did a lot of the work at NR and we've had the rubber since the start. It was a hell of a lot of work. Good to see another FL guy on here.

I am staff at On-Target (you figure out which one. I only work Sundays). To answer a few questions:

We offer LEO rates for range time (half price), but there are no LEO membership at this moment. Will inquire the owner to see if he likes this idea.

The "No Wolf Ammo" rule has being thrown out of window since the new backstop is installed. I've being shooting my AR with Wolf ammo since. Shoving those rubber back up in the morning is a pain in the butt.

Mad russian (boy, that's a funny one) is gone due to his issues with law. On Target used to run under his FFL, but has already complete FFL transfer to new owner. By the way, he's never the owner of the range.

We still have one shot per second rule. If you let it rip, I will sure be on you case for it. Double tap is technically not okay, but unless you do it all the time most of us will not care much.

No shot-gun allow started last week. Yes, too many people are cheap and bring in bird shots that's tearing the roof off so we stop allowing shotguns again.

We are starting to add more handguns for sale, right now we have pretty good selections on SIG and Springfield. Working on S&W as well as Kimber.

I'm not sure if a membership will prove to OCSD how often you shoot. A letter from the range saying you shoot 2-3 times a week helps.

            CWM4A1,

Thanks for clarifying some of those things. How gone is gone? I just saw Jakov there in the last week or two.

Will On Target provide a letter of reference for a member applying for a CCW permit like Firing Line will? Everyone always talks about Firing Line doing this but I've always wondered about On Target, but I've never asked.

I thought the Wolf ban was more about the steel casings than the backstop.

Are you guys doing a total revamp of the current range, like new hangers because those are really needed there.

Jack-off is gone for good. You won't be seeing his face at range. He's gone as of two weeks ago as far as I can recall.

As far as CCW, if you are member and show up in some of our matches, I don't think we will have an issue for CCW letter. Ask for Arlan provided that you show you face enough.

Trust me, the Wolf ban is GONE. we even take the sign off.

As far as I know, only the back-stop. possibly will change out the carpet and may be re-pave the ground. A new hanger system is not in the loop though.

I thought his name was Ilya! I think his mom actually had the FFL and range in her name. Yes Wallysparks I realized that they have new ownership at Insights, thats why I shoot there! Old owner was more pita. I will be there Thursday evening most likely. I'll see you around there eventually maybe.

I have had no issues with anyone there yet though ne guy once seemed a bit grumpy and someone there has a Triumph Bonneville which I found real neat.

I didn't realize that out of state transfers were so reasonable there and if they are not grumpy about doing ppts there I will give them that business too. Much preferable than going to Turners
