Your UPS guy is on a super tight computer programmed schedule...

That is why he always "runs back in his little brown truck".

I don't know he seems to be that square kid that thinks guns are evil. He probably thinks I purchased "assault" ammo. Bad vibes from this sheep. The other UPS man chit chats about UPS life at least... I don't know UPS life, but what I do know fo sure is free shipping and no tax seals the deal...

You lost a Ruger Mark 3. What other guns were stolen? So sorry......make a police report.

A good reminder to have a extremely beefy safe that's bolted to the floor. Disguised as something common, perhaps in a lockable walk in closet. Alarm system, cameras that can be accessed on your cell, a hungry Dog.....etc.

This may have been totally random.

            Or someone you know already.

Very likely it was random. I wouldn't get paranoid or suspect anyone you are close to. Sometimes the bad guys learn your schedule and can predict when no one is home. My coworker caught on video the three guys who broke into his neighbor across the street from him. They range the doorbell several times while parked in their driveway. Anyway, whoever did this realized once they saw your Gunvault there must be something valuable inside. Really not much you can do about that. Very sorry this happened to you.

that sucks man. I second the idea of an alarm system and a dog. i have a pure bred Doberman, Alarm system, warning decals for alarms system, security door and windows. My house is sandwiched between two houses that have neither of those. Mine would be their last option on the street.

OP, very sorry for your loss, I do know the feeling and it sucks big time. Like everyone said call the cops and the home owners insurance. Best of luck getting everything fixed.

Stuff like this makes me wonder why some gun owners like to plaster their vehicles with firearms-related stickers, wear gun-logo shirts, clean guns in their garage in view of the street, blab to their neighbors about what they have, post pics on the internet connected to their real name, etc.

Dont forget a panic room too and come on we CGer's love to talk, brag, tell stories, I mean every gun show I attend you cannot get into the proper viewing space on a table because some Richard Cranium is standing there shooting the bull about stuff he knows nothing about!!

There's been a bunch of burglaries this year in the West L.A. area where I live. I already have a very secure place including video cameras and 24 hr digital recording, but the cameras are sort of up high. My wife said she saw on the monitor some hooded guy come up to the front door a couple times and just stand there until one of my 3 german shepherds heard the dude and flipped out, my wife could never see the guys face.
This summer I added a game camera type camera mounted inside a matching steel box with a padlock and mounted it on the fence next to the front door at about face level. I purposely bought one with a visible white flash so any bad guy would know their picture was just taken.
I forgot about it and this weekend remembered I need to take that camera down to recharge the batteries, so I decided to take a look at the storage card too.
There was a lot of pictures of my wife and I coming and going, and also 3 pictures of 3 different bad guys at different times on different nights, I was very surprised. I hear the dogs bark at night and then they stop so I assume it's nothing, but evidently some guys had been coming up to our door.
I've printed the bad guys photos and will be giving those to PD.
Video cameras with a recorder are good but you here a noise in the night and never go back and rewind and see what was there, the game camera is better in a way because you'll get a good picture of the person's face. Just an idea, those game cameras are inexpensive.

Typical day time residential burglary. The thief(s) took only what could be carried easily in a small bag or backpack. I seriously doubt the thief knew anything about you or any guns. Usually they just door knock homes until they find one where no one is home. Once inside they look through all the usual places where people keep valuables. Your "safe" (really a lock box) is not a safe. It's really designed for quick and easy access, with only limited protection to keep out children, not people with tools.

The thief may live near you, and is probably a young adult or drug user. If the thief(s) was a real accomplished burglar he would have taken much more.
