    Robbed

No idea who. They looked through the entire house and didn't take much else. I don't blab about my guns except here, and I'm still a newbie on the forums. Yes, I use a safe, bolted to the floor, and they got it open.

Gun shops? Maybe someone broke into a gun shop and got into their records, for example.

Or credit card records...anyone making a donation to Calguns with a credit card creates an association of an address to a probable owner.

Or the mail...I get mail from the NRA. One misdelivered piece of mail and someone ends up with the address of a probable owner.

So, that's that. I'm out. Dunno if I'll continue with the shooting hobby. Not a lot of spare $$ to start over at this time of year and having to replace the doors on the house.

It sure was nice having a Ruger Mk III. Can't replace that.

Maybe another form of self defense...

If they went through the house without touching other stuff and went straight to the guns, it's someone who has been in your house before.

Sorry for the loss. How did they get the safe open?

Sorry for your loss. Thieves are the lowest life form!
Curious on the safe break in as well. What kind of safe? How'd they get in? Pictures?

          I'm sorry for your loss.
Can you post pics of the safe so we can see how they opened it?

They opened every cupboard and drawer, etc... It's like they knew the address, and what they were looking for, but didn't know where once they got in.

I don't want to share how to get the safe open publicly. Let's just say my next safe, if I even get another, won't have any buttons or biometric readers. Just a big old fashioned dial.

I think they knew there was a safe and brought the needed tool to open the safe with them.

                That sucks.......

What kind of safe was it, just for reference? Brand is ok if you don't want to say the exact model.

Wow im sorry to hear this happened to you. Maybe you can use your NRA insurance will replace some of the guns.

I could understand why you wouldnt want to say how they got into the safe, but honestly in this form that type of info could possibly help alot of people who might have the same safe, or help someone realize something they could improve on there security.

Exactly why I asked to post some pics of the broken safe so if someone have the same safe of thinking about buying the same safe.I'm thinking about buying a safe.

Why on earth would you NOT want to share how they got your safe open? You're not interested in warning the scores of other members who might find that information useful? I can't imagine how your addressing it on this forum (of people who have NO IDEA who you are) could be detrimental to you situation.

Oh and here's a piece of advice for the future.

                      Simplisafe.com

You can have a fully monitered, full function alarm system up and running in minutes for less than the cost of a cheap pistol.

That and the safe would have safeguarded your stuff.

Robbed? Sounds more like you were burgled. Unless they forced your safe open using fear and threats of violence.

                          Locksmiths dude!

I had a customer who had the exact same thing happen to them........someone broke into their safe and stole a bunch of money and took NOTHING else in the house. Only a locksmith or a pro safecracker couldve pulled that off. I am highly suspicious of locksmiths......a trainee with a year on the job can learn all kinds of tricks.

OK, you guys have a point. GunVault, with the four buttons on the top, one per finger. He hit the button area with just a regular hammer. The metal of the rest of the safe doesn't extend to the area under the buttons. It's a separate piece of metal, apparently not so strong, and that's where the locking mechanism is. Boom done. It was even my hammer.

I guess burgled. I thought they were synonyms.

Bud I hate to be a richard but thats not a safe. I have one and use it for storing a pistol when traveling, only for lawful reasons. Like a pistol under lock and key. Brand new out of the box my kid shut mine with the key inside. I used a small pocket screwdriver to open it. Im sorry for your loss it sucks.
